.world instance != Lemmy (lemny) The instance has some rules for content, and discussions around celebrating a murder are getting caught up in that.
There might be some overstepping of moderation in places, but it must be a bit of a minefield for the mods.
The best thing for you to get the experience you want from Lemmy is to engage in those discussions in an instance that suits your moderation preferences.

You’ve said this on so many posts I’m struggling to keep track of which ones I’ve seen before. It’s not a criticism, just saying you’re messing with my melon maaaan.

Toxicology isn’t a real profession. These people are run by big toxicity. For real water advice you want a homeopath.

You explained this so much better than my attempt, and with a well balanced amount rage 🤌
- Comment on Anon needs cooking advice 4 weeks ago:
I think (hope) they are just describing this wrong, rather than adding bacon to boiling water at the beginning.
The sauce for carbonara is just some of the (salty) pasta water and egg yolk.
Cook the pasta until just before al dente, then mix the yolks and (fried) lardons in the pasta for the final minute or two of cooking. Add parmesan as you like.

It’s a little more complicated than that unfortunately. Supporting bees is much more than just supporting honey bees.

- Comment on Anon recommends a cast iron pan 2 months ago:
That is beautiful. I am now in the phase of convincing myself not to buy it even though it’s obviously only going to end one way…
- Comment on Anon recommends a cast iron pan 2 months ago:
I’ve stopped using cast iron after some experimentation. It has some uses, but none of which can’t be done equally well in a stainless steel or carbon steel pan.
I find these respond to temperature changes better and so are easier to control. My big iron pan also doesn’t heat evenly enough, so extra care is needed to cook things consistently if it spans a wide area of the pan.
I think the best place for iron cookware is for oven pots, not for hobs and frying.
- Comment on Campaigners tie baby slings to statues in call for better UK paternity leave 2 months ago:
I thought shared parental leave was a legal minimum? For the uninitiated, that’s where some or all the maternity leave can be given to the paternal parent, meaning there isn’t an inequality.
If they are campaigning for more for both parents, I’m not sure I am on the same page. I can see how this would make me unpopular though.

For some people perhaps. I sadly still go to an office occasionally and I’m astonished that there are people clearly unwell coughing and sneezing all over the place. Last time I went I came back with Covid and was out for nearly a week.

I get surveys at work asking me how much I believe the workplace aligns with company value x, y, z etc. Every question I just respond : I don’t have an opinion. I literally have no clue and do not care, I’m here to get paid.
- Comment on Liz Truss leaves stage in Beccles as 'lettuce' banner unfurls 4 months ago:
Tried to steamroll through new economic policy that was plain stupid, which the bank of England had to intervene on to stop peoples pensions going broke. This resulted in a huge spike in interest rates that thousands of people are still affected by today. There is much more to it, but thats the short story. Fuck this woman, she should be in prison not flogging books.

Is there a reasonable majority of people who would vote for her with this campaign point?

- Comment on Two in five not saving enough in pension for even basic retirement 4 months ago:
I don’t expect to reach retirement age as it will keep increasing. If I do make it that far, I expect having to work so long to get there that I will be pretty much a husk of a human.
That isn’t to say I’m not paying into one, but I probably am in the ‘not adequately saving’ group because I want to enjoy the time I have now as best I can.
The future is terrifying and causes a lot of anxiety…
