Harold Holt was an Australian PM who disappeared at sea, presumably drowned.
We named a pool after him
- Comment on You had unrestricted access to the internet as a child, didn't you? 1 year ago:
the lack of expected noises in a lot was pretty confronting too. it’s not always like the movies with people screaming their guts out, those were the ones that stuck with me
- Comment on You had unrestricted access to the internet as a child, didn't you? 1 year ago:
nah too old, from the “the simpsons are corrupting the youth!” generation

I’m a bit late to the party but just watched Don’t Look Up for the first time. Wow! satire done well. a little too well. I missed a lot of the hype and didn’t think it would be memorable but it’s one of the best movies I’ve seen all year

but maybe 100k people bought the big ones then, now a AAA title can sell millions or tens of millions of copies

I tend to agree, but then again this is the guy that intentionally has a shit haircut so he can look like some Roman dude
- Comment on Bernie Sanders Champions 32-Hour Work Week With No Loss in Pay 1 year ago:
that’s exactly what I work, and my employer has been pushing to remove that in our pay negotiations. they backed down to making it “optional” but it sounds like all new hires wouldn’t be on the 9 day fortnight system.
sad how things are getting worse not better
- Comment on EBAY Prices 1 year ago:
ebay is where you go for aliexpress junk that you might find from a local seller instead if you need it sooner. that’s about it. once in a Bluemoon a sale coincides with prices not being jacked and you can get a slight bargain (in the last year I managed to get a Bass at a good price and some bike tyres) but other than that just cheap junk is all it’s good for

probably a reference to that Pringle’s guy dying in a “plane crash”
- Comment on The fact that people this stupid exist 1 year ago:
I thought we were all supposed to drop dead in 2 years, the cookers were all banging on about that at one point when they weren’t punching horses and thinking the government used laser weapons on them and not that they got sunburnt from spending the day in the sun “protesting”
- Comment on The fact that people this stupid exist 1 year ago:
more likely 100 is the biggliest number they could think of
- Comment on I feel the actual inflation 1 year ago:
lucky. in Australia milk +50%, bread and rice +100%, pasta only about 20%, meats are almost out of reach ($12aud for 12 shitty supermarket sausages about 1kg worth is about as cheap as it gets. fruit and veg has always been volatile and fluctuates but I would say on average 20% more now
- Comment on I feel the actual inflation 1 year ago:
its basically 2 year ago eating out prices to make shit at home these days
