- Comment on When a magazine goes out of print and/or out of business, do the original 'master files' for each issue still exist somewhere? 2 weeks ago:
How does the archive.org exemption work? When is it voted on next?
- Comment on Do 9-5 jobs still exist in the U.S.? 4 weeks ago:
Unless you are salaried. Being salaried normally comes with flexibility but gives no guarantees for breaks and number of hours worked.

Okay, I have a question. I would love to write my papers in latex, but none of my colleges use it. Is there a way to reasonably collaborate with coauthors who only use Word and for whom Latex would be confusing and difficult?
- Comment on LPT Do it. 5 weeks ago:
I do this using overleaf. It’s been much easier to maintain and update since switching.
- Comment on I bought frozen BBQ eel and the best before date says LJ349. What does this mean? 2 months ago:
The name comes from the name of the person who first proposed the Julian Calendar, Julius Caesar.

What do you mean by a “dismissive parenting style”?

the nose is maybe strangely small, lips are a little off-putting
- Comment on Plastic tea bags 3 months ago:
I’d rather just buy loose leaf and use a washable strainer. It’s generally less expensive and higher quality too.
- Comment on Plastic tea bags 3 months ago:
Loose leaf is excessively packaged? Normally when I buy loose leaf I just get a tin that’s full of tea and nothing else.

I’m really glad to hear that. It’s amazing how far cancer treatment has come in the last couple of decades. I hope you remain healthy!

The ducks don’t talk to you?
- Comment on Scrooge mcduck discovers bankruptcy 7 months ago:
The total of all world assets is somewhere in the realm of $500 trillion. So, McDuck owns around 2,000 times all of Earth’s assets combined.

Since you investigated and found a workaround maybe it would be worth submitting an issue to the Lemmy GitHub repo.

I’d forgotten this trick. It works for large numbers too. 122,300,223÷3=4,07
- Comment on When the pizza party is too expensive, you go with the EncourageMint 8 months ago:
I kept thinking “surely this was attached to something else and they didn’t just give a mint and a few stupid jokes”. Then I noticed another one of these stuck to a locker in the background. What pieces of trash. You don’t show appreciation by saying “You are appreciated”. You show appreciation by compensating your employees for their work.
- Comment on Reddit is a shithole 10 months ago:
I wonder if Reddit could be held legally liable for trafficking in CP in that case. They were explicitly told “this is CP and should be deleted” and they didn’t act.
- Comment on higher wages for the servers... by the customers. Fnbs 10 months ago:
Biden was in the news saying he wants to get rid of hidden fees. I was surprised that restaraunts weren’t on the list of industries being targeted. This kind of fee should be illegal. It should be required to be a part of the up-front price.
Hell, I feel the same about sales tax. It should be baked in to the price you see on the shelf or menu.
