- Comment on What is a game you can’t understand why its so popular ? 1 week ago:
Okay I think this is actually the best answer in here. I know of too many people that won’t play pixel games or PS1 era because “the graphics are bad”, which just sends me for a spin because I absolutely adore how they look.
- Comment on 1 week ago:
8 is definitely not a good first JRPG to start with, but I think it’s an interesting reversal of the regular mechanics/grind that you expect from the genre.
- Comment on 1 week ago:
I actually think FF8 and FF9 have aged wonderfully. Personally, it’s FF7 that hasn’t aged the best.

A lot of product to Canada comes up through Amerocan trade routes.
- Comment on Nintendo is raising the price of the Switch 2, blaming 'market conditions' 3 weeks ago:
Perhaps people that were holding out on a Switch 2 will see this as their only opportunity to grab one, since it ain’t getting cheaper.
- Comment on Pragmata surpasses 1m copies sold in just two days 5 weeks ago:
The fanfare is interesting to me, because I played the demo and found the exact opposite from my experience! The mini games in the middle of it all was too many subsystems for me to find enjoyable. But that’s clearly the minority opinion based on the sales and reviews.

In an early access game, no less. The game isn’t even done. This should be expected by the players.
- Comment on Pickmon to Pickmos 1 month ago:
Yea, I’m all for new additions to the genre, but can we stop giving lazy slop games articles and the time of day? This doesn’t require as much attention as it is getting.
- Comment on Google's Gemini will make its way into Dragon Quest X to power a "Chatty Slimey" AI companion, Square Enix has announced 2 months ago:
That wasn’t really an answer, my comment was trying to understand why people want that. Obviously there are personal preferences involved, I just wanted to hear from someone that wanted it ad to why.

My question is why the heck do people keep mentioning NPCs with dynamic chatter? Why do people even want that or see that as a good thing?
- Comment on Switch 2 demand appears to be flagging as Nintendo reportedly lowers production 2 months ago:
Yea, honestly I don’t know anyone that has bought or plans on buying a Switch 2, but I know a lot of people that bought or have Switch 1. Of course, that’s anecdotal, but shits just way too pricey. I and most that I know got into the Switch because of the affordability and on-the-go console play. Half of that equation is gone, and we already have the on-the-go console play with Switch 1.

We also have sales taxes in Canada, but that precentage depends on the province or territory. So you could expect the Canadian price to go as high as $710 CAD.
- Comment on Palworld dev isn’t impressed by "so-called" AAA, prefers indies since they "include the kind of systems you can’t find in other games" 5 months ago:
The whole reason behind it was to socialise with others in person and trade.
Now, though, the whole “multiple versions” is kinda pointless and just gates things, as you said.

Yea, that’s one of the ones that is excluded. Usually just the smaller contained rooms.

I’ve replayed this game maybe 4 times, I love it! Hope you enjoy your time with it all the way through.

Avatar Legends is the new name for the franchise overall. I suppose it’s to differentiate from Cameron’s Avatar.
- Comment on Hollow Knight Silksong (mod recommendations) 7 months ago:
I suppose my experience may be different than others, I’m at the tail end of Act 3 and I have yet to grind for rosaries or shards. I remember people saying I’d need to do that, and I never have.
- Comment on Xbox: "Price Increases Are Never Fun For Anybody" 7 months ago:
Why do we continue to give Nintendo excuses for their shitty anti-consumer practices?
If these are just because of US tariffs, why increase the price of Switch 1 consoles that are already in Canada and don’t need to be shipped through the US? Why increase digital games that aren’t being shipped at all? Not to mention, they opened the floodgates for the price increase in games.

It’s a pretty low price already, and I personally think the devs deserve it. Hope you enjoy!
- Comment on Shortly After Xbox Game Pass Prices Spiked, the Page to Cancel Game Pass Subscriptions Was Overwhelmed 7 months ago:
I get the inherent value people attach to it, but after having it several times (I’d have it for a month or two and then drop it for like, a year), I would never go back to it even if it still seemed like a good deal.
For an app developed by Microsoft and working on a PC, it has some awful pathing, and I lost saves and had issues launching games on multiple occasions. Tried many fixes and it never worked out. Some games would work for me, others wouldn’t. So for me, since it felt like a toss up to get a game to work, it was pointless.

Not that you’ll see this, but I mean that you’re being incredibly rude, argumentative and a bully towards them. You can disagree with someone without being a dick about it. This Lemmy instance is becoming more like the reddit game subreddit by the day, I swear.

Wow our dollar is shit. Not certain where the $120+ is coming from, then. But it is clickbait, so I suppose that’s the point.

I assume they’re talking about the DLC as well. All together, the game + DLC over here is $140. I assume it’s closer to $120 for America, but haven’t done the conversions.

Demo was fun, though.
- Comment on Hollow Knight: Silksong Sparks Debate About Difficulty and Boss Runbacks 8 months ago:
I’ve spoken to others about this subject due to this and none of them have reflected the comments here. I don’t even know most of the people I posed the question to. I suppose this forum (and the forums or social media these poaters frequent) hold their opinion as more of a fact than I was led to believe.
- Comment on Hollow Knight: Silksong Sparks Debate About Difficulty and Boss Runbacks 8 months ago:
I think I approached the discussion wrong and perhaps wasn’t voicing what I was thinking properly. Regardless, I’m clearly not in the majority of opinion, so I’d like to just bow out of this discussion and wish everyone has the fun that they want to have.
- Comment on Hollow Knight: Silksong Sparks Debate About Difficulty and Boss Runbacks 8 months ago:
I haven’t gone out of my way. While I haven’t used the word “fun”, I did say I enjoyed most runbacks in Dark Souls as a sort of puzzle. Being downvoted for a subjective opinion is absurd, especially qhen the person I’m responding to also has a subjective opinion. But nice to know my opinion has less value.
Anyway, I don’t really want to go in circles with this since I feel like both sides here have said what they want to say.
I’ll just leave with an example of a mechanic I find unfun and wish would go away, as a sort of olive branch of understanding that opinions are opinions. In Breath of the Wild and similar games, I hate the weapon/item degradation mechanic. I understand their design goals with it, and I understand how removing it from those games would change quite a bit of how they want the game to run, but I’d be much happier if it were to disappear completely.
- Comment on Hollow Knight: Silksong Sparks Debate About Difficulty and Boss Runbacks 8 months ago:
You’re getting voted up for your opinion, and I’m getting down for mine. Strange. Things you say are unfun for you are fine for me, like I said in my post, I do believe it’s personal opinion.
I’m not denying that there has to be design intent in here, but I take great issue with people stating “runbacks are unfun” as a matter of fact. Again, if it’s taken into consideration with time and how the boss mechanic works, that’s simply how the game is designed. I respect everyone’s opinion and their thoughts being the opposite, but I don’t think it’s a universal truth that must be upheld with every game.
Again, maybe I’ll feel differently regarding Silksong specifically as I get further. So far I don’t take umbrage with it’s runback design.
- Comment on Hollow Knight: Silksong Sparks Debate About Difficulty and Boss Runbacks 8 months ago:
I can’t say I’ve gotten to some of the examples people have mentioned as “annoying; bad design”, so I’ll leave judgement until I get there. But there’s nothing inherently wrong with runbacks if it’s part of the design and the boss is the culmination of that.
Stakes of Marika are definitely there to appeal to a wider audience. I personally don’t care for them, as for most areas in DS I enjoyed trying to claw my way back to the boss unharmed. It was like a puzzle.
It’s fine to criticise things, but I personally think “make checkpoint outside of the boss” the criticism is not a good one.
