- Comment on Funko, BrandShield speak out about itch.io takedown 1 week ago:
I’m just going to post this comment to this thread as well, since this is newer.
Fun fact: Funko’s current CEO is the ex-president of Wizards of the Coast!
Why is this relevant? Well, under her leadership, WotC sent pinkerton agents to someone’s home to threaten them because they got some Magic the Gathering cards early. She said things like Dungeons & Dragons players were under-monetised, pushing to make the Table Top game more like a microtransaction-filled video game, and helped with the OGL scandal.
The OGL, for anyone unfamiliar, was an Open Gaming License WotC had for years with D&D 3rd party creators. It allowed certain things to be created using D&D mechanics and lore by anyone that followed its guidelines and allowances. A couple years ago, WotC tried to change that so they would make more money off of people trying to create things for D&D - to profit off of indie creators passionate about the game. There was a huge backlash, and they eventually went back on this decision.
All this to say, you can see what kind of leader the current Funko CEO is, and what’s happening with itch isn’t surprising to me.
- Comment on Critical Role's plans to make a videogame have become an 'active pursuit', says CEO Travis Willingham, after almost 10 years of growing a D&D campaign into a full-on franchise 2 weeks ago:
It’s an “active pursuit” which sounds like they have nothing yet. So I doubt it will even be 2 years.
- Comment on Steam is 'an unsafe place for teens and young adults': US senator warns Gabe Newell of 'more intense scrutiny' from the government if Valve doesn't take action against extremist content 4 weeks ago:
The latter two are a much more broad and prevalent issue in the gaming industry overall. No need for the whataboutism.

Sam & Max Hit the Road! It’s awesome.
- Comment on Star Wars Outlaws' $110 and $130 editions prompt a collective sigh from potential players tired of season passes and ill-advised early access periods 8 months ago:
Yea, I’m not going to give them any money. Fuck’em.
- Comment on Legend of Zelda 8 months ago:
I’m currently going through every (mainline) Zelda game and replaying them. Took a bit of a break at Links Awakening, but I’d have to say my favourite 2D Zelda are Seasons/Ages, and my favourite 3D is Majora’s Mask.
Something about the worlds in those games that really draws me in.

Neither of those use the 2e rules, which are quite different from Pathfinder 1e.

I’ve not tried it, but I’m sure if you can connect a PS5 controller, you can use your PS4 controller. Look it up and give it a shot!

No one is capable of having a conversation with you because all you do is attack other people and not respond to them.

It’s okay, don’t worry. They “don’t really think of [their] game as fitting with any particular label”.

I would recommend MGS3, personally.

Fortunately, all of those books seem to be in my local library ebook app, so I’ve got some new reading to do, thank you for the wonderful breakdown!
- Comment on 'There's almost nobody left': CEO of Baldur's Gate 3 dev Swen Vincke says the D&D team he initially worked with is gone, due to Hasbro layoffs 1 year ago:
Audiobook unfortunately isn’t much of an option for me due to attention issues. All I know is it’s been impossible for me to find the Starlight & Shadows series.
If you have any recommendations for Evans’ books I’d love to see if I can check those out, as well.

If they wanted to fire the “bad performers” then they’d be firing the CEOs and higher ranked people, not those actually making the products work.

I’ve been searching all around for Cunningham books and I can’t find any. Not any libraries around here, virtual or physical. Not any used book stores. No where!

Just picked it up on Switch based off the strength of Sea of Stars!

Thanks for the insight. I’ll stick with the original, then.
- Comment on Super Mario RPG - Review Thread 1 year ago:
Do any of the reviews mention anything about the UI? One of my issues while watching the first releases videos and clips of this switch version was how boring and basic the UI was looking. Wondered if that was just a gripe on my end or if it effects some of the people to actutally play it. I understand it’s a small complaint but it can really change how a game is for me.
- Comment on GTA 6’s Publisher Says Video Games Should Theoretically Be Priced At Dollars Per Hour 1 year ago:
Yea, I wouldn’t give them any money, though. The actual creatures got fucked and any purchases of the game go to the people that fucked them. Great game, but I’d sail the seas for it.

I’ve been meaning to pick up Crystal Project (that price, wow!) But I learned it’s coming to Switch so have held off on it. After Sea of Stars, I need me some new JRPGs!

Funny, I absolutely love Ys Origin and can’t really stand the modern direction of the series. Been meaning to try the Trails games, but never knew where to start.
- Comment on That's The End Of Activision Blizzard's $120 Million Overwatch League 1 year ago:
Now TF2 had some fun competitive matches. That takes me back.
I think you have a lot of good points here. One of the major issues is that Competetive esports meta bled into casual Overwatch.
- Comment on Control Ultimate Edition on Steam | 75% off - 9,99€ 1 year ago:
Control was so good that, for me, it retroactively made Alan Wake better by their connections.
However, in my opinion, that didn’t make Alan Wake good. It’s a game that should have worked wonders for me, but the gameplay loop being the same from beginning to end (and truthfully, it being monotonous didn’t help) and the controls being frustrated just made it a game I wanted to get through, rather than enjoy.
Unsure if I’m going to play Alan Wale 2, as it looks like the same gameplay that I didn’t enjoy.

Finally beat Sea of Stars, and have gone back to play Megaman Battle Network Collection, starting with #1. Definitely not the best entry in the series, but it’s got good bones. Looking forward to getting to #2.
- Comment on What games have you been playing recently 1 year ago:
I know a lot of people like them, but you just listed a lot of my least favourite Zelda games. Wind Waker (before the remake, I heard there were a lot of QoL changes that I had issue with from the original?), Phantom Hourglass and Skyward Sword. I would’ve beat my head against a desk if gou said Spirit Tracks.
But people do enjoy these, so I hope you like them much more than I did.
- Comment on Telltale Games has reportedly laid off most of their staff 1 year ago:
It’s really a shame, I loved their Sam & Max. Their Monkey Island was a lot of fun, as well.
- Comment on Telltale Games has reportedly laid off most of their staff 1 year ago:
No, what killed it was them taking on too many high profile licenses at the same time and trying to juggle high workload and high demand with short turn around. Pair that with the fact that they change and work on things between episode releases, too.
- Comment on What games can you recommend that didn't get the appreciation that they deserved? 1 year ago:
I’ve just recently said that on Lemmy - I said to a friend I wanted a game where you broke down and accepted star wars ships, and they pointed me towards this game. It was recently on sale so I picked it up. It’s been an absolute blast and exactly what I was looking for (though I still wish I could do it with SW ships). I also agree about the shift timer, so thankfully there’s an option for that.
- Comment on What games can you recommend that didn't get the appreciation that they deserved? 1 year ago:
No, they’re right. Everyone was talking about it when it came out. It’s also the first Supergiant Games game and really put them on the map.
