It’s a fair request to turn it down enough so it’s not audible in the next room. In our house if someone wants it quiet and someone else wants it noisy, quiet wins and noisy can use headphones.
- Comment on Tity more tity, the Greed is sickening 1 week ago:
Maintaining a denylist of harmful sites is not something any parent has time to do properly. Maintaining an allowlist is time consuming and technical. All some parents hvae in their toolbox is reviewing browser history and I’m not going to fault them for doing what they can to make things a bit safer online for their kid.
- Comment on Some retailers have broken Doom: The Dark Ages' street date, and huge spoilers are already out there [Eurogamer] 2 weeks ago:
Glad it’s not just me that thinks there’s too much exposition in games that don’t need it e.g., Doom. The good writers understand the medium and the story unfolds through play but the bad ones make you read walls of text. If I wanted so many words I’d read a book!

- Comment on Anon uses Windows 5 weeks ago:
Windows is only getting harder to control and Linux is easier than ever to get on board and learn. Are we at a tipping poing? Maybe. With what Valve is doing for PC gaming, Microsoft’s introduction of Recall for Windows 11 and killing off (for home users at least) Windows 10 in October, who knows, maybe we’ll look back and see 2025 was the year of the Linux desktop.

- Comment on Vote Compass Australia 2025 - Australia Votes 1 month ago:
With that many parties vying for your vote, I hope you’re not getting bombarded with political advertising. At least it sounds competitive out there. Good luck to your incumbent; I’m getting someone new no matter what.
- Comment on Vote Compass Australia 2025 - Australia Votes 1 month ago:
Yeah, unfortunately they both have pretty much zero chance in my historically blue electorate. However, there’s still hope since the decent independent who came a close second last time is running again and the incumbent has retired. It’s refreshing to actually see corflutes and have meaningful discussions.
Whats happening in your area?
- Comment on Vote Compass Australia 2025 - Australia Votes 1 month ago:
Yeah, not a great question. I answered somewhat more, assuming we had a roughly right spend before Trump 2.0 started unfolding.
And I’m pro nuclear fusion, but assumed they meant fission given that’s what’s on the table.

Just wondering whether we can start referring to Tiananmen Square 1989 as a “lootbox”, or Xi as a “microtransaction” and let China fix our problems.
