The joke is so obvious there’s no need to comment on it so others, including myself, are using this as an opportunity to post our opinions on the difference between sci-fi and fantasy.
- Comment on I always get them confused. 5 weeks ago:
I would argue that science fiction and fantasy are the same thing and the only difference is the explanation for how all the cool stuff works.
Functionally, there’s no real difference between a portal that takes the characters to another world using a wormhole and one that does it through through magic. Just like how there’s no difference between Vulcans/Klingons/Wookies and Elves/Dwarves/Beastmen. Both are intelligent non-humans.

I could be entirely wrong about this but isn’t it in universe lore that Elves don’t see the curvature of the world and that’s how they can see so far?

I thought it said “his shole had teeth” and it took me awhile to both notice the B and to really be it was for censorship.

Kind of reminds me of the left pad incident only much worse.
- Comment on Kate Mulgrew told Rick Berman she wanted a gay character on the Voyager bridge 4 months ago:
What’s funny is the “blonde bombshell in a catsuit” turned out to be one of the best characters on the show.
- Comment on The Fallout Bible: a collection of lore documents compiled for use in the development of the original (cancelled) Fallout 3 6 months ago:
I didn’t realize there would be sex scenes in it. Glad to know before I started watching. I miss the days when it was pretty safe to watch anything. I wish all these producers would realize that some people have families and that we don’t need sex scenes and nudity in everything.
- Comment on The incredible pixel-smashing game Noita got a huge free update 6 months ago:
Noita is way too hard for me. I finally managed to beat the “tutorial” and that was good enough for me.
- Comment on Legend of Zelda 6 months ago:
Majora’s Mask is the best Zelda game. However, Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda game. The setting, art style, and musical score all combined perfectly to make a game that was both really fun and relaxing. No Zelda game since has ever matched the feeling of sailing to the Great Sea soundtrack.
- Comment on Windows 10 is the last version of Windows 6 months ago:
The difference this time is that my computer literally can’t run Win 11. I’m not throwing away a perfectly good PC just because of Win 11’s hardware requirements.
- Comment on Gameplay mechanics were also a lot better with more replayability. 6 months ago:
This was my exact experience. I read the book and looked through the map it came with. Morrowind was the game that caused me to change from FPS and Sports games to RPGs.

The houses are so close together and have so little yard I don’t see why they didn’t just turn them into townhouses.
- Comment on Dragon's Dogma 2 - 18 Minutes of Fighter, Thief, Warrior, and Sorcerer Gameplay 9 months ago:
I’m pretty excited about this since Dragon’s Sogma was one of my favorite games.

Unity really messed up this time.
- Comment on The Weekly 'What are you playing?' Discussion - 11-09-2023 1 year ago:
The last time I played I turned the enemies completely off but between trains and the beginning of nuclear power, I got so confused I just quit.
I also turned the mountains off as well. I had enough problems trying to keep the conveyor belts straight without having to deal with building around elevation.

I’ve tried to get into Factorio but my research always progresses faster than I can build things inevitably leading me to get lost. Also, the factory ends up getting too messy so I quit the game.
It’s become a game that sits in my library taunting me.
- Comment on Why shouldn’t firearm manufacturers be held accountable for the use of their weapons in crimes? 1 year ago:
However, I’m quite concerned about firearms being used for their primary purpose: killing people.
That’s where you’re sort of wrong. Their advertised, primary purpose is self defense or hunting depending on the weapon both of which are legal actions. Deliberately using the weapon to commit murder outside of these intended purposes is a misuse of the weapon no different than deliberately using any other item outside of its intended purpose to commit crime.

These sorts of comics have been captioned like this for decades. I’m not sure if they were ever not captioned.
- Comment on PSA: the largest piracy community is blocked from lemmy.world 1 year ago:
I don’t understand why everyone is so shocked they did it. Hosting information on pirating stuff is a lightning rod for lawsuits and Lemmy.world is large enough to actually noticed.
I’m only surprised it took them that long to block it.
- Comment on higher wages for the servers... by the customers. Fnbs 1 year ago:
Why don’t they just raise their prices a bit? Adding a “not” tip to the bill just seems odd.

I have a Lemmy and Mastodon account and decided to see how well linking a Toot to a Lemmy community would work. It was surprisingly smooth. Mastodon even provided some autocomplete for the community.
- Comment on Being subscribed to similar communities on multiple instances and seeing duplicates 1 year ago:
I feel like the best way to handle the situation with similar/same communities on different instances is to allow communities to automatically federated with other communities. That way subscribing to one community will show you its posts and all the posts to its linked communities.
It would be especially helpful for these general purpose communities like Technology or News since I would imagine most communities are going to have one.
If that happens then we wouldn’t need to hunt down and follow every single instance of the same community. Let the mods handle it on their end to save the rest of us the effort.
