There’s issues with all the analogies. If I tilt the stick left, if it was my neck, then I would roll my neck to the left and I’d need to twist the stick to look around. Perhaps this is the missing control scheme we’ve been waiting for.

The back lever thing is a simplification. It’s more that they visualise it as controlling the yaw and pitch, like gluing the joystick to the top of their head. Point is though that it’s there as an accessible option
- Comment on Who plays like that x_x 2 days ago:
Its two different perspectives. One is controlling a character as if they are controlling a camera from the rear. The other is the more common, where you’re using the joystick to move the point that you’re looking at.

Its not so bad, it’s just a context switch. In an fps game you’re changing the direction your character is intending to look. Wanna look left, tilt left. Wanna look up, tilt up.
In a flying game, you’re controlling the attitude of the plane, it helps to think of your joystick being glued to the top of the plane.

I like to imagine inverted players control their character by grabbing a stick on the top of their characters head

Fair enough, as long as there’s respect to other dogs and dog owners. Many dog owners near where I live who selfilishly let their dogs off lead in busy on lead areas and obviously causes problems.
- Comment on Does people doing things that upset others also upset you? 2 months ago:
If it’s an off leash park it’s fine. If it’s on lead have them on lead. It isn’t about your dog it’s about everyone else’s dogs. Dogs on leash are significantly more reactive when another dog runs up to them, so it’s important to have control of the dog, lest one of the dogs gets badly hurt.

The context is a 4chan post about not understanding the behaviour of women. I’m not a woman, I don’t find it offensive, but you can definitely make some educated guesses or conclusions about why it would give some women the ick.
Ps. Don’t take it too seriously most people are taking the piss
- Comment on Anon studies human behavior 3 months ago:
None at all, and the real argument wasn’t that females is a dirty toxic word. It’s the context in which it is used.
- Comment on Anon studies human behavior 3 months ago:
Well if you want an answer to the question it’s purely the way it comes off. A lot of women I know get the ick when people use the word female in that context.

He’s looking for young girls then. I’m not sure that’s such a good thing, nor does it make his use of females any better.
- Comment on Anon studies human behavior 3 months ago:
Wouldn’t that imply then that he’s referring to women AND girls? Because he does explicitly say men in the post.

Modern autos with cvts are kinda at the point where it is basically magic. They feel like driving a golf kart that can reach 200km/h.

Yee game development is very accessible nowadays. Fortunately it still requires great effort to make a good game.

A huge amount of games in the indie scene are made by zoomers. Lethal company was made by a 21 year old. The current game industry is composed of mostly millennials, but still a lot of zoomers.

Nanite doesn’t affect any of the post processing stuff nor the smeary look. I don’t like that games rely on it but modern ue5 games author their assets for nanite. All it affects is model quality and lods.
Lumen and other real time GI stuff is what forces them to use temporal anti aliasing and other blurring effects, that’s where the slop is.

Yeah I remember in high school they were pressuring every body to go straight to uni and I personally thought it was kinda predatory.
- Comment on Anon cheats through college 7 months ago:
Its probably a regional difference. Here in AU, you can be lucky and land a few post grad jobs if you really stood out. Otherwise you’re entirely reliant on having a good folio and most importantly connections.
- Comment on Anon cheats through college 7 months ago:
Yeah fair point, but then how are you going to get the job if you’re completely incompetent at programming 🤔
- Comment on Anon cheats through college 7 months ago:
I meant any form of qualification. Sure it helps, but the way you get the job is by showing you can actually do the work. Like a folio and personal projects or past history.
- Comment on Anon cheats through college 7 months ago:
Hey that sounds exactly like what the last company I worked at did for every single project 🙃
- Comment on Anon cheats through college 7 months ago:
Not a single person I’ve worked with in software has gotten a job with just a diploma since like the early 2000s
Maybe it’s different in some places.
- Comment on Anon cheats through college 7 months ago:
Yeah that’s object oriented programming and interfaces. It’s a shit to teach people without a practical example but it’s a completely passable way to do OOP in industry, you start by writing interfaces to structure your program and fill in the implementation later.
Now, is it a good practice? Probably not, imo software design is impossible to get right without iteration, but people still use this method… good to understand why it sucks

A diploma ain’t gonna give you shit on its own
