After finding out that you can (rather easily) jailbreak the 3DS family consoles, I promptly did so for my childhood 3DS, loaded a bunch of Layton games onto it and gave it to my SO for her birthday two years ago. She’s had a blast with it. No way in hell will I be paying 100+€ just for two used copies of the 3DS Layton games if I can just jailbreak the console and get all the games I could want.
After clowning on it for years, I also got myself a 2DS because it was the cheapest 3DS-family handheld I could afford and have had a lot of fun with it too

Not OP, but I haven’t seen it recommended in this thread yet: the Monster Hunter games for 3DS are really good. Specifically 4 Ultimate is considered by fans of the games to be among the very best the series has to offer. Added verticality to the very flat games before, lots of new moves for existing weapons that make them actually viable options, amazing new monster designs and areas etc etc. Huge recommendation.
If you’ve played Monster Hunter back in the PSP days, Generations might be up your alley since it’s kind of like a best-of title of most main-line MH games prior. Really beautiful homage to the roots of the franchise

I’ll second this, actually. I used to hate on PC gaming for around a decade or so because it always seemed to prohibitively expensive to me compared to a console. But after building my very first PC with used parts off ebay for around 300-400€ in total, I think, I can confirm that it works really well overall.
Most of the games I’ve played so far perform really well, some even play on highest settings (and that’s with just a 1080 ti), and it’s a PC, so multitasking, office work, homework and whatnot are all possible. Running the OS off an SSD makes loading times in games comparatively fast to the PS5’s SSD, sometimes even faster.
And I haven’t spent a single Euro on games because of a plethora of 🏴☠️ options, which is possible on console depending on the console, but ultimately hinges on jailbreaking your console and voiding a potential warranty.
Overall, I’m very pleased with my PC experience right now. Ever since building the PC, I haven’t played on console, and that’s coming from someone who was playing on console pretty much exclusively since around 2017

To tell which sounds are voiced or voiceless, put a finger or two on your larynx and look for the vibration. /th/ as in “thread” is voiceless - no vibration - whereas /th/ in “the” is voiced - vibration

Dude, you should get a rice cooker. I’ve never had so little trouble cooking rice before. And as long as it’s not a weird batch of rice, it always comes out near-perfect

Had a breakdown today because, after being on sick leave for a week, I came back to school and realised I need to prepare three therapies for tomorrow in between classes and barely any time to thoroughly prepare even one of them. But nooooo, working from home for those days where just school wouldn’t work because we have a contract that obligates us to be physically present. Plus, we’re just not as productive. Sure. Fuck my 2h of commuting everyday

Preach. I doubt there’s too much you can do though given human anatomy and the (lack of) space in the pharynx

If you have trouble swallowing tablets and pills, even when you drink something to have it go down easier, it might be worth checking out different consistencies of food to go along with it. Many elderly people take their pills in yoghurts and puddings and stuff like that. Soft foods in general also work. A drink should usually help though.
If it’s tablets and pills that explicitly need to be taken dry, you could try a swallowing technique called a “chin tuck” where you push your chin towards your chest before swallowing and then swallow while your chin is still tucked. That way, you leave less room/area for the tablet/pill to get “stuck on”. It could help but doesn’t necessarily have to help

As the other commenter said. Alternatives are also SLP - speech and language practitioner/pathologist, but I don’t think there’s a standardised name that’s always used in English. “Logopedics” is probably not used that often in English compared to “Logopädie” in German

SLTs hate pacifiers. They’re horrible for a child’s teeth, leads to costantly open mouths, are bad for posture etc… Most patients’ parents who come into therapy are good about weaning their kids but some don’t and don’t know about the harm either

No, it was not meant as a moral argument but the ecological impact of eating honey and supporting honey farming and beekeeping, as stated in my comment. The ethical argument is the same with any other animal that could be, but shouldn’t be from my point of view, exploited for our gain.
Plus there’s a difference between harvesting the literal nourishment of a species that requires it for their own suatainment and using them for crops and their pollination: one of them is easily avoidable and unnecessary, the other is a necessary evil but ultimately still required if I want to keep on living.
The most ecological and ethically sound conclusion then would be to just stop existing, but I don’t have a deathwish, so that’s the least harmful option out of the ones I have.
Capitalism is founded on exploitation of other people, our environment, animals, whatnot, so I don’t have any other option until capitalism is overturned and another form of governing rule is established, desirable but currently not possible, so all I can do is minimise the impact I have on the environment, on animals, on other people as much as possible.

I’m not an expert on artificial sweeteners, but as far as I know, they’re to be consumed in moderate amounts just like sugars are. And from what I’ve heard, stevia is among the better sweeteners compared to something like aspartame or maybe even sucralose. The mixing of sugar and a sweetener is not ideal, I think that’s true.
I’ll gladly be proven otherwise - don’t know enough about them tbh
- Comment on Shit's getting real 2 months ago:
Honeybees destroy ecosystems because they’re more efficient at pollination than wild bees are, so there’s an ecological nuance to abstaining from honey. Apart from that, there’s the ethical component of taking away food that the bees produce for themselves that’s not ours for the taking.

Used to hate Arizona quite a bit because it felt super bougie and expensive for what’s essentially just a regular ice tea. Developed a taste for it over the years and like it quite a bit nowadays because it’s partly sweetened with stevia which makes it taste very pleasantly. Quite unfortunate that most of the flavours sold here aren’t vegan because they insist on 0,1% of honey in the ingredients

Gonna be controversial but Monster Hunter World for me. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the game a lot at first and put 100+ hours into it. But it marked the departure from the silly, cozy, slightly under-the-radar franchise to something that’s just too big for my tastes. I feel like each entry is trying to top its predecessor in new mechanics, bigger maps and stuff and end up getting lost in the sauce.
I started playing on PSP with Freedom 2 and Freedom Unite and moved over to 3DS when the games came out for that. The games were never unpopular per se, especially in Japan where they’ve been a staple since the PSP days, but they always felt a little more niche and unknown. They felt more focused, more streamlined, tighter. All the new combat mechanics added in newer installments definitely help the fluidity of the gameplay and add a lot of fun and variety. But that’s it for new additions that I’d miss when going back to older titles. These huge open-world-esque maps just don’t cut it for me.
Rise would likely have been last MH that I could enjoy since it’s a good mix of classic MH with good QoL features added in to make the game more modern, but even that one didn’t quite catch my attention for too long.
I don’t know, I feel like Monster Hunter kinda lots its charme in chasing industry trends of open world games and more realistic graphics and physics in favour of character, silliness, and focus.

My older brother found our grandmother on Google Earth quite a few years ago, right in front of her house where she’d sit in the afternoons. It’s crazy - it’s like she’s never left. I’m glad she died before she had to witness the war in the Ukraine. Слава Україні 💙
