Enamel can get chipped and scratched, and if you don’t clean it regularly it will stain and disintegrate.
Source: rented places with enameled bathtubs and sinks.
- Comment on The US Department of Transportation has intensified its efforts to remove bike lane references from federal websites 2 weeks ago:
“Since nearly 80% of the population uses cars to get to work and their important medical appointments, we are taking a closer look at federal guidance to ensure American families have the infrastructure they need,” the spokesperson said. “This is a common sense approach despite the Left’s belief that everyone should ride a bike to their shoebox-sized apartment to eat crickets to achieve a phony climate agenda.”
Sounds like a seven year old school yard bully.

In Sweden (where food is generally more expensive than in the US) we have several options. One food blogger launched a series called ”Portionen under tian” (Meal portion under 10 SEK/$1) which got so popular that she got to write several recipe books from it. We (or at least the people I hang around with) also use thrifty options like “Karma” and “Too good to go” which can stretch healthy meals for a family of three - four for almost a whole week (given that the kids eat lunch at school) for under 300 SEK/$30, and not be the same food every day.
Others in this thread have commented that the very cooking shows you’re asking about already exist.

Thank you.
- Comment on What do late night talk show hosts telling their guest when they walk out and hug? Or when they go to commercial break? 3 months ago:
Too tired to look up the specifics on YouTube now, but several shows have clips there that show what happens during breaks or after. Usually small talk with the interviewee and some banter with the audience.
As I don’t watch the interview part of any show, or don’t watch talk shows that aren’t satire, I usually watch the banter clips from e.g. The Daily Show (there are some great ones with Trevor Noah) or whatever what Seth Meyers show is called.

Great thanks to Stephen Colbert who made the concept Superb Owl popular, but even greater thanks to the user who keeps that community alive with lots of pictures and good information about owls.

Depends on the laws in your country, where I live we can’t even mention the name and crimes of convicted pedos on social media.

The ergonomic keyboard I had fit quite well at my work desk.
- Comment on Ergonomic keyboard + laptop? 7 months ago:
It all depends on how much you type on each. If you usually type a lot on both of them, you’ll get used to it fairly quickly, easier than with keyboards that have extremely similar setups but with differing placement of Ctrl, Fn and various Shift keys.
- Comment on What do they do with aborted fetuses? 9 months ago:
It depends on the country, facility and age of the foetus. In a hospital setting it’s almost always medical waste as far as I know, but some people choose burial or strew the ashes in a special place after an abortion/miscarriage. If it’s a medical abortion it’s a non-issue, usually flushed.
Stem cell research is based on controlled origins, such as embryos from IVF, scientific volunteering, egg donations or similar procedures.
- Comment on If you lose your memories, are "you" dead? If a close relative/friend lose their memories, are they still "your relative/friend"? What the hell even is memory? How sentimental are you about memories? 10 months ago:
I have (had) two relatives succumb to dementia (Alzheimers) before they passed.
In one case, that person reverted back to the memories which were at the time of my early childhood. We reconnected in a way that shed off the later traumas for both of us, and while I still could not love that person, I appreciated them for who they were (or thought they were) at that time. And I could grieve their passing.
The other person was pretty much dead to everyone anyways, so yeah, once their memories were gone, they were already dead to us.

- Comment on do you use non violent communication at the workplace? 10 months ago:
So…
- Do you always have deadlines?
- Do you have time to have breaks (preferably with coworkers), at least two separate apart from lunch (one before lunch break and one after)?
- Do your coworkers always talk about work during those breaks?
- Bathroom breaks do not count, and you shouldn’t anyhow bother colleagues with feelings during bathroom breaks.
For 2 and 3, yes, it’s normal to talk about emotions and feelings, as long as you’re not overshadowing other peoples need to vent.
For 1, get a different job if you’re not constantly striving for heart attacks, kidney failures or brain strokes.
For 4, I was going to make a very dumb joke, but… change work place.

I’ve done this unofficial fostering myself. I make sure that I don’t claim all ”my” kids, they are still their own individuals and have all rights to connect with their families and cultures. I love my kids, both bio and not. I wouldn’t want to be without them. But I still am sure I should have had other options achieved when I was younger. So I concur with the commenter I replied to now and OP. Don’t let family pressure fuck your life up.

They are fantastic. Some years ago I got a sudden urge (from seeing them on subreddits) to grow these in my aquaria, but then I looked at several aquarist forums and realized that I shouldn’t. Really shouldn’t. They kind of don’t seem like they need more habitats to thrive in.

- Comment on Whats the best way to deep dive into learning a language without apps? 1 year ago:
Tv, short form media, game shows or even ridiculous things like kids shows. Is there e.g. a similar show to Taskmaster (or some similar show in your more familiar language) in that language. You will not understand all the entendres but will see a different kind of language structure that isn’t as linear as news, series or movies might have.

- Comment on Is it generally safe to walk through a field of cows? 2 years ago:
I was helping out at a farm when I was in my preteens, and was rushed by a docile cow that loved being scratched behind her ears. I had petted and scratched her, and when I went to leave the paddock, she rushed me and almost impaled me with one of her horns. Since then I only have one working kidney.
Cows are big, strong and heavy, and docile dogs can also kill. Any kind of caution around things large or feisty enough to kill you is healthy.
