  Meh - sounds like they saved some money by not going heavy into custom assets.

  Seems like for a first pass at an indie game you should use asset packs and/or Gen AI. If the game has legs - you make another pass with a bigger investment into it.

  Obviously if you enjoy the asset/model/whatever aspect then delve deeper into it.

  Prefix: My answer is geared towards America and assumes you can start gathering Social Security at 62 and has not been accurately researched for viability.

  Take on loans if needed and become a student.

  Use student health insurance.

  Graduate in 4 years - if you can nab a paying job you enjoy then go for it. Otherwise start collecting SS and whatever other benefits you can muster.

  If you can’t pay back loans - what are they going to do about it?

  Hopefully by not going into debt with school earlier you were able to stash some more into retirement vessels earlier and maybe that’ll help.

  Have worked with teams remotely over the world. When comparing the working styles of the different teams the best description I could give is “we’re the result of bloodthirsty capitalism”.

  I would also say that the rent thing isn’t really trying to extort money from your child. It’s more about beginning to teach them about finances and budgeting.
