Gemini Ultra will, in developer mode, have 1 million token context length so that would fit a medium book at least. No word on what it will support in production mode though.

What an amateurish way to try and make GPT-4 behave like you want it to.
And what a load of bullshit to first say it should be truthful and then preload falsehoods as the truth…
Disgusting stuff.

+1 for Genshin. While I think your gacha warning is excellent I do want to point out that the amount of resources you get for getting characters is more than enough to clear all story content. Hell if you’re a good player you could probably clear the whole game without using a single primogem, not even the countless thousands you get along the way.
And massive is also the understatement of the year. There is voiced content here that dwarfs even whole trilogies. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are more recorded lines than all of Dragon Age and Mass Effect put together. And the story is likely not even at the halfway point yet, there’s still years to go. Closest analogy would probably be SWTOR, the MMO, but with much better combat.

Since I’m not American I keep forgetting about your for profit churches. The concept is just too foreign to me. When I think church I think of 300 year old cold stone building in the countryside.
Still there are homeless that would refuse, some from not believing or trusting you, some from not wanting to relocate even if it means that level of comfort, some from being deep into addiction thinking that they’ll be forced to get clean. And some will take you up on it and just absolutely trash the place trying to steal anything not bolted down.
That said the vast majority would for sure jump on it and thrive. So if it was at all possible to make happen it would be a good idea.

On that I agree 100%
- Comment on Just 2 people. 8 months ago:
Most homeless are in the big cities, most churches are out in the boonies. The homeless are very unlikely to accept being bussed to a flyover state to sleep in a church in bumfuck nowhere. For a myriad of reasons.
Keep in mind also that a lot of them have a very hard time accepting any help due to past trauma as well.
It’s not a situation with a quick fix. Really the first step isn’t even ensuring housing for the homeless, it’s making sure we don’t get more homeless. We likely can’t save a subset of today’s homeless because they don’t want/or won’t accept any help that comes with any strings (like no drugs or just they can’t trash the place). But we can ensure no-one else ends up on the streets by beefing up mental healthcare and social services.

I don’t know why the article doesn’t bring up Valve being the company to bring loot boxes and that business model to gaming as the prime example. Valve earns extreme money from the skins market and gambling in CSGO / CS2 since they sell the keys and take a cut of trades as well. They’re far more concerned with money than actually caring for the people involved. Gambling ruins lives and Valve is the gambling company that faces by far the least vitriol in that horrendous crowd.

Someone who fucked up in one way or another. Anything that’s not a security related incident with a CVE entry is bound to be a major oversight by someone. Remember over promising is a fuck up, not business as usual in a healthy organisation.

Eugh. That feeling is the worst job related one. When you realize that you could’ve handled it within working hours but because you tried to dodge it you end up having to work overtime and mess up the family plans for the holiday…
Now-a-days I make damn sure someone I know is competent has the task assigned to them with ample time to fail and notify me without it leading to an all-nighter.

The lack of separation between the toes indicating socks stayed on and no grip marks means it could’ve been worse. When you get that irresistible feel that you have to remove all clothing is when you’re in for a life changing experience.

It is a great game imo, but it’s also insanely long and pretty grind heavy. I made it through two of the three disc before I sadly lost my save file in a break in.
I later tried again but only made it to disc 2 before just not being able to stomach the grind :/

I wonder if you can make it “green wash” which is forbidden under EU law… Though what I can see the “feature” doesn’t seem available where I’m at. Likely because the risk it will do something illegal is too great.

A jean vest with integrated t-shirt arms is the perfect stealth garment, button up the vest and no one will know, unbutton and it’s party time!

So no vacation homes at all?
And what constitutes an individual? A family unit? Or can you own two houses when you’re married, one per adult?

Brothers in Arms is fantastic and squad management is not a very intrusive part of it at all.
As for the saturation it wasn’t just FPS, it was that every genre (well, baring racing I guess, but there every game was heavily “Fast & Furious” inspired) had more than one WWII game, it was ridiculous…

Spoken like someone that hasn’t been working very long, or if at all.
While school can be very pressure intense around exams in ways many jobs aren’t you at least have summer and other breaks. For work you get vacation time sure, but it’s nowhere near in terms of time.
Further adult life has a whole slew of responsibilities on top that you need to handle. Most 30+ can’t subside on the crap we ate during college, we can’t fuck off from our responsibilities when we can’t be arsed with minimal consequences and we sure as shit won’t find social stimulus without putting in effort, neither friends nor romantic. Sure if you live where you’ve always lived then you hopefully have childhood/school friends left at 30 but if you’ve moved then it’s not a given at all.

Mine disappeared as I got older, like around 25 or so. Now if they or similar visual effects come back it means I need to rush for my migraine pills or I’m in for some serious ass whopping… Don’t know what I did to my old friends to deserve that kind of treatment.
- Comment on How the rest of the world sees the US and Royal Navy 11 months ago:
Eh, the source for much of the pacing and plot arcs is taken directly from Akira Kurosawa’s “Hidden Fortress” and that predates the Vietnam War by quite a bit. But sure, everything made at the time was of course influenced by the Vietnam War. But the Rebels being Viet Cong is a reach of galactic proportions.
- Comment on What difficult games/game challenges did you give up on? 11 months ago:
It’s a long game, I think I just overestimated how far in you’d be at 20 hours. Since I really jammed with the game (and it was before I had 3 kids 😂) I had done all the side quests I had found but I hadn’t explored further away than the zones the side quests took you to. I will say though that plot wise it would make absolutely no sense to save it to the “late game” if that’s even possible. But that is the fight I was talking about, 100%.
- Comment on What difficult games/game challenges did you give up on? 11 months ago:
Well the “early” fight with the noble / king / count can’t remember in PoE had me tearing my hair on the difficulty I played on, took intense space bar action and every trick I could muster in terms of abusing targeting and kiting, etc to win it. I don’t know how many times I reloaded and how many days I tried, must’ve been in the hundreds by the end when I finally got it due to a few lucky crits and rolls.
- Comment on What difficult games/game challenges did you give up on? 11 months ago:
I have this weird thing where I love a game to be challenging because it’s not engaging if it’s easy, it makes the game boring to me, but at the same time I despise grinding and generally rote gameplay with the only purpose of amassing more points to be able to challenge the next boss. But very few RPGs I like are like that. Baldurs Gate 1/2 are excellent games that I love but I get extremely frustrated by some encounters which just feels like absolute bullshit and require extreme grinding or going off to do a myriad of side quests to bump up your level. Same holds true for Pillars of Eternity which I also love.
Though I tend to be a stubborn person so I generally come back a week or month later if I get stuck but I tend to put the game down once I’ve dealt with the immediate challenge and realize that I need to do all that boring stuff again for the next boss and then I just don’t start.
- Comment on Hertz 180: Rental giant to sell 20,000 EVs and replace them with gas-powered vehicles 11 months ago:
Global EV production is so focused on making and meeting the demand for more vehicles on the road that the after market is handled as an after thought. This is partly offset by EVs being mechanically simpler and more reliable (mechanically) but that is little comfort when you do have an issue that needs parts to fix. And for Hertz it hurts when a car is out of commission for an extended period, so this is a very reasonable action in my opinion.
