It’s not an inverse discrimination thing, it’s a very recent phenomenon where women are outperforming men in education. It’s a difficult topic to broach because, yes, it can come across as very “meninist” or inverse discrimination-y, but it is a real phenomenon.
Especially in more liberal areas where young women aren’t just starting to outperform in education, but in earnings as well. This is limited to areas which are liberal and wealthy, and has only appeared in the last 5-10 years or so, but it’s a real trend.
I don’t think anyone is saying that men have it worse off on average, but young boys in the education system are absolutely starting to fall behind, and it’s starting to affect them once they leave the education system as well. It’s not political to acknowledge that fact.
As a feminist myself I’m big on the whole equality thing so it’s obviously a bit concerning seeing these boys fall behind. If the trend continues we could see men becoming disadvantaged financially not dissimilarly to how women have been - and still are in most cases.
If you look at the overall gender pay gap you might believe that this is a good thing as it brings the average woman closer to the average man, but when looking at peers within the same age groups: yes, young women are starting to outperform men income-wise.
All that being said, of course women still have it worse in most cases. This is not about one-upping or competing based on levels of discrimination, but about spotting a trend and course correcting before too many people are disadvantaged based only on their gender.

It’s a very confident blanket statement about an individual they know nothing about, delivered with that signature Reddit snark that just always manages to piss me off lol.

Every time I see this, that “women are smarter than you are” reply annoys me just a little bit.

- Comment on Why Everyone’s Picking Up a PSP Again in 2026 (my article!) 4 months ago:
Touching on the burnout section of the article, it’s not quite as cool as the PSP but I’ve been playing a lot on my Switch 2 as a form of digital detox as well. I put limits on all the addictive apps on my phone, and downright uninstalled most of them, so when I’m itching for dopamine my phone can’t give me it’s nice to turn to a game console. The switch 2 also doesn’t have notifications or egregious game updates. Currently playing through factorio and having a blast just kinda … ignoring the state of the world.

Yeah I think it went pretty well. Would like to have a job at some point in the future as I recently bought a house only to be made redundant 4 months later.

You’re getting there. A bank robbery is worse than a car theft, and society does put more resources into preventing bank robberies than car thefts. Maybe we should put more effort into stopping billionaires leeching billions than stopping Joe Schmoe from being on welfare.

You’re still missing the point lmao. Who gives a fuck about a tiny drop of water when there’s a tidal wave coming for them.
- Comment on Get in the Hilux 2 years ago:
That’s fair, though we also don’t know how much this individual is getting from the welfare system. At the end of the day I’m far less annoyed by people like this than by billionaires or even just CEO-types who make tens, hundreds, or thousands of times what a normal person makes while providing arguably similar amounts of economic input.
Additionally, while this person’s comment comes across as proud, they more than likely actually need the support the welfare system gives them. There’s probably a reason they only started relying on it since covid.
- Comment on Get in the Hilux 2 years ago:
Billionaires leech millions of times what a poor person leeches, and yet you’re here complaining about the poor person (who has likely already paid more in taxes than they have leeched).
- Comment on Get in the Hilux 2 years ago:
Pretty big assumption here that they won’t pay more taxes than what they get from the government. I paid $20k in tax in the first year of my first non-retail job. If they paid taxes for 7-8 years before covid they probably already paid for themselves.

The short answer is that they don’t believe any of the things OP said, or they can overlook them because they believe worse things about Biden/the democrats.

Get em Chuck. Adam Silver clearly wasn’t expecting that question but his answer was pretty good (after some initial stumbling from being caught off guard).
