- Comment on Why limit immigration? 2 months ago:
Building houses is probably generally allowed, but not an easy solution.
Someone who migrates to another country, to work there in a regular job, can get a regular apartment. But everyone wants to live where the living conditions are best. You can’t build infinite housing in those locations, and the increased demand drives prices.
Someone who seeks asylum is in an entirely different situation, and housing them is a different challenge. Building a house in a nice place costs 10x what it costs in a remote country region. But now people have nobody to integrate with and less social options.
Any house being built costs money. Building houses for people who are still in search of employment is a bad investment. Nobody wants to build those houses. They want to build the nice houses in the nice places that will gather lots of rent. If you want to have the houses anyway, because maybe the people are already here, you probably have to use taxes for it. Some citizens will never be able to accept that, creating conflict.

Given how accessible music is, how accessible musicians are on social media, the fact that you probably have to travel to the venue, shit like COVID, eardrum shattering PA systems that make ear plugs a requirement, what is the appeal today even? And then it costs a thousand bucks?
I understand fun, but I feel like you could get a better deal if you’re just looking for a good time.

"JD Vance is what would happen if Boss Baby grew a beard,” quipped one person in 2021.
“Just shave JD Vance’s beard and he’ll lose all support,” commented a self-described center-right Republican account in April. “He literally looks like a reddit user.”

Easy. Come up with some insane pet feeding scenario, and then assume you saw someone on YouTube vouch for it. Enter discourse. Ensure to present your theory by first saying “I don’t know what a cat actually is, but…”. Then slowly slide your audience into your scenario about how people in Florida have kept alligators alive by feeding them rotten boat parts with just the right algae and moss on it.

- Comment on I think I am socially ostrasized, what should I do? 2 months ago:
Not sure if this works for you, but when I’m in a socially confusing situation, I involve people. If you think someone is talking bad about you, ask them about it. Ask for guidance. If you ask someone for help, they will often remember it positively. It takes courage to ask for help, as it’s a sign of weakness, and people usually respect that you trust them with your request.
Ideally it will turn out to be a misunderstanding, or you get some constructive criticism, or you get a confirmation that people are actually talking bad about you. At least you will have more clarity. If there wasn’t really anything bad going on, now you’re still in a conversation. Even if you say thanks and end the conversation, you’ve broken the ice with that person.
Friends are very much necessary. You need people in your environment, other than your family, to exchange ideas with and talk about things that are on your mind. Don’t try to substitute friends with online relationships. It will never be equal. Finding local people with similar interests online is fine if that helps you to reach out. You can’t force making friends, it’s a waste of time. Start with making one friend. Quality over quantity

I totally agree with you on the phishing aspect. Good thinking.
I would prefer it if people already knew the domain from prior association. I still download desktop software regularly on the developer website, even though I am also aware that this is not without safety concerns. I know this is an unrealistic expectation at this point, but I dislike that the Google/Apple Stores have more trust, even though they regularly publish fake apps or apps with security/privacy issues.
Ultimately, publish on multiple channels regularly and let your users be aware of alternatives. Then they are enabled to switch when they need to, and it might also be easier for new users to recognize which release channels are official

Valid. I never had anyone do my assignments for free and in few minute though. It seems unreasonable to assume that this has no multiplying effect. After all, I have no hard numbers either

It’s good to have established release channels that don’t rely on third parties in the first place. Everything beyond that is for convenience and strictly optional.

- Comment on Fallout TV Show ... not vibing with eps 1,2 ... what am I missing? 2 months ago:
I agree on the emptiness. I also felt like they were trying too hard with a lot of scenes, and I had a hard time relating to the characters. However, it got more interesting as the story and the world open up more.
Having played the games, and having liked them, the series was a welcome and fitting extension of the existing narrative. It fits so well into the universe, that you will happily forgive any shortcomings, just to get this pleasant enrichment to prior experiences. Watching the show is almost like you’re back in the wasteland yourself, discovering it all over again.
It does not feel like a cheap abuse of a brand you associate with a good time. That alone is worth a lot.
I also felt like the HDR video and Atmos audio are well done and contribute to the impact of the show, as available of course.
There were twists in the story I did not anticipate. Maybe it’s just my interpretation, but the way the series tells its story felt overly video game like. You always follow the protagonists closely on their linear progress through their active quest, and the breaks in that progress feel so clearly like side quests. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but I felt that was well done.
After all, it is a series that builds on existing material, which is video games. The way they implemented it is highly consistent with your prior experience and people appreciate that greatly.

What’s your motivation? Do you want to appear attractive, and you decided that you are not up to your own level of expectation based on your hair? Do you want to attract a partner or an audience? Do you require respect from peers and you think hair will help?
Any supplement is likely not going to bring the required results. If you are not satisfied with your hair, get a toupee or a transplant. Don’t fuck around with half measures. You will only waste time and money.
In general, hair is not suitable for half measures. Don’t kid yourself. People notice thin hair. People notice a tattooed scalp. People notice a calm over. These all make you appear insecure and the opposite of what you might be aiming for. You must be comfortable, but be aware that you are not buying into the wrong comfort.

Please don’t take it as an offense, but how do you know it worked? Like, what are you comparing against? If it’s your dad, maybe you just got the right genes from your mom to give you a benefit.
- Comment on What the fuck happened to YouTube!? 2 months ago:
Yeah. It really does suck. You get over it eventually though. And, who knows, in a couple of years maybe someone releases all episodes in a single download and you’ll be enjoying them on a whole new level.
If you really like something that is only available on a single platform, and you don’t really enjoy that platform, and you also have zero control over the platform, get out of that situation. It will always end in frustration. Try to gain back control
