Hey! I appreciate your input and totally agree🙂it’s not an easy process and we don’t expect it to happen too quickly, but we do believe that this platform will make it. And we’re trying to build a culture of transparency, kindness and support, which is made very achievable by amazing people like you!

We can neither confirm nor deny that this is the way

Hello @j4k3@lemmy.world. You have not provided a viable request, and no, downvoting by itself is not a troll act. And people won’t be banned simply for doing it. If you really don’t like ANY type of negativity, then I believe there are quite a few instances that ban downvotes, like Hexbear.
And your post is locked now. Thanks, cheers.

Yes, do so. And share it with lemmy.world.
- Comment on Why was a defederation request post locked deleted and the poster banned? 1 year ago:
Hello @toasteecup@lemmy.world, thank you for sharing your concerns and curiosity with us. We are aware of the type of hateful content you mentioned, and are doing our best to not keep hateful content on our instance.
We are discussing the request for defederation, but the consensus is that this may not be needed, since the 0.19 Lemmy update is expected to roll out in the upcoming weeks. This update will also enable users to block whole instances, and hopefully, address a big chunk of the issue we seem to be having here.
Regarding your question as to why the poster was banned: they were banned for 1 day, due to the same type of hateful and dehumanising content that would get any other user banned. The defederation request was also posted to several communities. The ban issued was only for 1 day, because the user was a regular member that would normally be trusted. We are aware they might not have bad intentions, and needed time to cool off.
I hope these answers were enough to satisfy your question. Take care, and with love.

In this case, by joining lemmy.world ;)

For sure! When you see harmful content, letting us know is all you need to do. :)
- Comment on Leaving antisemitism on the table with WorldSocialists 1 year ago:
Absolutely. You can also notify your instance admins to remove or purge the community, if that would make your user experience better.
- Comment on Leaving antisemitism on the table with WorldSocialists 1 year ago:
That might be because you’re on another instance, which has mirrors of all our content. As of now, the mentioned community does not exist on lemmy.world.
- Comment on Leaving antisemitism on the table with WorldSocialists 1 year ago:
Due to the clear bad-faith behavior and repeated hateful content from its moderators, the community was purged.

Due to technical issues that aren’t likely to be fixed in the immediate future, using all of the mod tools effectively may not be possible for cross-instance moderators. Your instance would also effect which reports you receive as a mod.

If you can make a post or a comment from your Lemmy.world account, we’ll appoint you. It would be preferable that you use a lemmy.world account to moderate it :)
- Comment on Can we please unpin the proprietary off-site/off-network promotion of discord 1 year ago:
That’s definitely a scenario, Blaze. If we were to eventually launch a Matrix space or room, it would be with our own team and tools, just like how it is on Discord. And as it took time to develop & set those up for Discord, it would take even more time and effort for Matrix. So pushing for it won’t help you here. I do appreciate your intention though.
- Comment on Can we please unpin the proprietary off-site/off-network promotion of discord 1 year ago:
How would you handle brigading, spam attacks, lemmy account verification, and high user traffic on a public Matrix room with little to no customisation? Genuinely curious.
- Comment on Can we please unpin the proprietary off-site/off-network promotion of discord 1 year ago:
Only circlejerk allowed on Lemmy
- Comment on Can we please unpin the proprietary off-site/off-network promotion of discord 1 year ago:
But normally you didn’t have a direct community chat either. Discord is easily accessible, usable and scalable for that use at the moment, so whoever wants it can use it. In the meantime, there’s absolutely no force keeping you from suggesting better options.

I have to agree.
- Comment on What is the policy on inactive mods? 1 year ago:
That’s not true. The owner of a community cannot be removed by other moderators, but the owner can remove all other moderators. Normal moderators cannot perform mod actions on each other.
