- Comment on Only You Can Prevent The Game Awards Hype Cycle - Aftermath 1 year ago:
I’ve never watched game awards. I don’t even know if there is even a main one. Watches speeches is boring which is why I don’t watch award shows in general.
Only goty I care about is the goty edition where the game releases with all the DLCs bundled at a discount.
- Comment on Box Office: ‘The Marvels’ Gets Grounded With MCU’s Second-Lowest Opening Day Ever 1 year ago:
Which is why the theory proposed seemed a leap, since you yourself gave an example of why a non incel doesn’t have interest in it. Add in the complaints of Marvel since the end game and the TV shows increasing the quantity of content but not necessarily the quality and I think that starts explaining why Marvel movies went from a can’t miss cultural phenomenon to either a skip or wait for disney+.
- Comment on Box Office: ‘The Marvels’ Gets Grounded With MCU’s Second-Lowest Opening Day Ever 1 year ago:
Yeah, I haven’t even checked out Gen V or Batman because I got tired of huge quantity of them that have felt like got churned out since they also started doing TV shows for them, and tying it in with the movies.
At that point I decided they weren’t good enough to keep up with hours of content. It was less of a chore when it was 1 or 2 movies to keep up. Same for star wars.
Although, the Moving kdrama actually was something I reluctantly watched after constantly being recommended to see it, and that I did enjoy. But, probably because all the power stuff could have been completely stripped away and still been a good show, so wasn’t relying soley on the existence of powers to be interesting but more set dressing.

They don’t prevent other people from watching the films. Sounds like even you haven’t even gone out to watch it, and I doubt it’s because they stopped you from going out and seeing it.
- Comment on ‘The Marvels’ Meltdown: Disney MCU Seeing Lowest B.O. Opening Ever At $47M+ 1 year ago:
I use freetube which doesn’t have a algorithm so avoids that issue, and let’s you block channels from appearing in even searches.
But, if insistent on using YouTube.com turning off watch history gets rid of recommendations and blocktube extension allows for channel blocking.
Never had luck with don’t recommend this video to me option even though Id go out of my way to avoid visiting any of the videos posted by certain channels. They’d still after a while post the channel content in recommendations, since I guess they are highly trending.
- Comment on ‘The Marvels’ Meltdown: Disney MCU Seeing Lowest B.O. Opening Ever At $47M+ 1 year ago:
Adding TV shows into the mix that were average made it too much to bother keeping up, and I haven’t watched MCU since then.
- Comment on How do you moderate yourself? 1 year ago:
Short attention span leading to doing gaming in short bursts. Sometimes I lose interest in games for months and get more into the mood to watch TV shows and movies. Then lose interest in that and move to reading then lose interest in that and going back to gaming. Rinse and repeat. Has helped me avoid the whole not having fun with games anymore threads that I’d see a lot, since my focus just naturally shifts back and forth to keep things feeling fresh.

- Comment on 6 reasons the gender critical right and the woke left are both WRONG about pronouns 1 year ago:
Title does not inform the viewer that it is a linguistic explanation of language, which is definitely more interesting compared to the vague title that it was submitted under and would lead to a skip for me without your explanation.
It’s why I consider it a bad title, since it makes it seem like the run of mill outrage bait. When in actuality a linguists insight is so much more unique compared to usual videos exploring this topic. Title draws in casual users seeking outrage, but can lead to people ignoring it out of the assumptions that the title illicits.
- Comment on Do you find the description Live Service Game off-putting? 1 year ago:
I don’t have the long term attention span demanded of live service games, since once I’m done with a game I move on.
- Comment on Todd Howard asked on-air why Bethesda didn't optimise Starfield for PC: 'We did [...] you may need to upgrade your PC' 1 year ago:
People should expect more optimization for the games they look into and better price for performance offerings for hardware. Approach of just pushing what is acceptable further into the category of the premium tier leads to worse consumer offerings over the long run. What is considered acceptable hardware has gotten more and more out of reach each generation while disposable income has not kept up.
Complacency and constantly falling scale of what is acceptable is what leads to worse standards. Bad prices and optimization should not get passes. PR management of be happy with hardware or performance is not the job of consumers aside from those who are being paid to run those type of campaigns.
- Comment on Todd Howard asked on-air why Bethesda didn't optimise Starfield for PC: 'We did [...] you may need to upgrade your PC' 1 year ago:
Products are just products designed to get money out of people. I don’t have an appreciation like its some sports team for them. It comes down to simply if it is worth spending money on or not. Being entitled is a good thing, since it encourages less consumerist behavior with how lot of people can use less frivolous spending in their lives.
You can try to spin it as a negative, but I find this you hail corporation approach to consumerism very odd.
- Comment on Todd Howard asked on-air why Bethesda didn't optimise Starfield for PC: 'We did [...] you may need to upgrade your PC' 1 year ago:
Why do people use entitled like it is a bad thing? Why wouldn’t consumers be entitled as opposed to spending money as though it is an act of charity? Pretty weird how mindset of gamers over the years has shifted in a way where the fact that they are consumers has been forgotten.

Wish they had asked him why the console version isn’t optimized either running at only 30.

I think he’s past any speculative articles of his hypothetical performance. Track record says it doesn’t matter, so unless he actually does have an impressive showing the media should ignore him.

Better question is why are you carrying over the obsession with karma over to lemmy? Are you the type to say before a post “I’ll probably be downvoted for this but…”
Just stop caring about it completely.

- Comment on What show took you the longest to get into? 1 year ago:
Does source material count? I watched Attack on Titan and loved it and when I found out the final season was not the final season I read the Manga. Was disappointed by the last arc and haven’t picked the anime back up, but at the same time was glad I got through it quick as opposed having the conclusion dragged out over years and then being disappointed like I was with Game of Thrones after a two year long wait. Which wouldn’t have been as disappointing if the wait wasn’t so long, and not a week by week slow delivery of disappointment over it being released all in one day for people to get over quickly.
It played a determining factor of whether I would watch House of the Dragon or not. Had the book not been complete I would not have watched the show not wanting to go through another multi year investment into stories and characters with a one to three year long time gap between season ending in disappointment.
- Comment on What show took you the longest to get into? 1 year ago:
I thought it was good, and the book it is based on is actually complete unlike A Song of Ice and Fire. And the book is good too, so I think it’s worth getting into.
- Comment on What show took you the longest to get into? 1 year ago:
Sometimes there’s some elements that really shows the potential and brilliance that is interesting enough to keep pushing forward. So while it might not hit the point of must see TV right away, going in with the knowledge that it hits its stride in season X helps keep things in peespective. When I’m informed of something like that I’m willing to put up with the slow burn if the pay off is to be great, and there’s at least some redeeming qualities about the show until then.
- Comment on What show took you the longest to get into? 1 year ago:
I didn’t really get captivated by The Wire until season 3. It had some really memorable moments, but it was a show I had to force myself through until season 3. Especially season 2, since the dock workers didn’t catch my interest.
- Comment on What is the secret to a happy social-media experience? 1 year ago:
Pseudonym based social media and utilizing filtering to block content. If there isn’t official filtering tools or community work around then it’s a headache. Also, ability to disable notifications, which is something lemmy or kbin currently does not have that I miss from reddit that helps you drop conversations you don’t want to be a part of anymore.
I enjoyed my time on reddit because of the above, and never really encountered the toxic complaints people often bring up. Ability to curate and control what you see is important to getting the experience you want, since you can’t control what people post. But, being able to control what you see helps a lot.
- Comment on "Sponsored recommendations": I pay for Spotify Premium, and yet somehow I'm still the product? 1 year ago:
Mp3s are fortunately in a really good place with them being DRM free. Was why when Google Music shut down I was still able to download my music purchases and keep them for myself. It’s one of more widespread consumer friendly digital options out there compared to all the DRM and account based digital options that exist for other products.
