- Comment on What is the average temperature of earth? 10 months ago:
Why is it hard? At least to get an approximation since you can't measure everywhere.
We know temperatures of the mantle and both cores. We know their size. We can ignore the crust as a rounding error. This approximation will improve as our measurements get better.

Most travelers won't want to learn a new rail system. They'll probably just get a cab at the stand.

They could just make a souls-like game set in Soul Reaver. It was already an action game.
- Comment on The Insomniac Hack Reveals The Ugly Truth Of Video Game Hype - Aftermath 11 months ago:
Yep. When the industry can cut off the only way for games journalists to reliably make money (pre-release review copies) then they are totally controlled by the industry. A real journalism industry would see one company not given a copy or blacklisted and the refuse to cover their release entirely in solidarity. Otherwise none of them can be trusted.
- Comment on Why would someone openly say that they oppose human rights? 11 months ago:
I understand. Some people think fetuses are babies, people, at that point. And they see abortion as murder. And if you think a fetus is a person, then it IS murder. It's a completely valid position. Not one I think is correct, but it's easy to see how they get there.
Unfortunately for them, most of those people have so little regard for actual babies and do so little to protect them that their stance rings hollow. And they also aren't willing to extend legal benefits as if they were babies. So their actions contradict their stated values and they aren't taken seriously.
- Comment on Why would someone openly say that they oppose human rights? 11 months ago:
Most people disagree it's a baby. It's still a fetus in the vast majority of cases. All laws agree with that since no laws grant fetuses rights, they merely restrict a woman's choice.
- Comment on "The Day Before" makers Fntastic are shutting down. 11 months ago:
To be fair, it seems like they've made 5 games and 4/5 weren't very good.
- Comment on "The Day Before" makers Fntastic are shutting down. 11 months ago:
Yeah, look at Starfield. It has really nice looking textures and objects. Everything else is a disappointment or mediocre. Maybe excepting the Ship Builder feature.
- Comment on The Game Awards 2023 fell short of honoring its own industry 11 months ago:
The awards are an excuse to show ads. Ads for upcoming games, released big games, etc.

- Comment on Super Mario RPG - Review Thread 1 year ago:
Yeah. That seems to be a trend in recent years. UX is extremely utilitarian and does not mesh with other game aesthetics. Even when those UX elements are on the screen all the time. It's very jarring to see a colorful game with a distinct palatte of textures being overlayed with grey, modern boxes and white arial text without any background textures to it.
It makes it feel like I'm playing a bad emulator or fan remake.

Solo sex. It's definitely sexual at least.
- Comment on Ways of designing intimacy in games - GameDeveloper 1 year ago:
This just means that penetrative sex with a penis is not required. Doctors can either inseminate people directly, or implant fertilized embryos.
But the only effective way to harvest sperm is through ejaculation. I.e. masturbation. So you're really not avoiding sex altogether. You're just going about it differently.

Sex is required for every human to exist. I'm sorry it scares you but you're kids are going to be fucking fine.

- Comment on The reason CEOs want workers to Return To Office is because they want you to quit 1 year ago:
If only the people who wanted to go in went in there'd be practically no commutes. There'd be a lot less reason to have an office, but people can self-select jobs for that, too.

Confidential is a wrong way to label that. It's
PII: Personally Identifiable Information. So they must protect it so people don't forward it and expose stuff like addresses and SSN. But it's YOUR piiy do you can share it freely. And what you're paid isn't PII. Only other identifying information that probably goes along with it. - Comment on Goodbye to more DVDs? - Comment on Chevy Chase Bashes ‘Community’: “The Show Wasn’t Funny Enough” 1 year ago:
The writers of Community had a fun little game. Someone puts forward a racist or otherwise offensive statement. The rest guess if this was something Pierce Hawthorn said (Chevy's racist character on Community) or something Chevy said himself on set.
- Comment on How Frasier Is So Rich As A Radio Therapist Finally Explained By Original Show Writer 1 year ago:
The real reason is why the characters of Friends also never really had financial hardships. People don't want to (or at least producers didn't think they did) watch a bunch of characters trying to survive in an extremely expensive city. So they all were conveniently rich and/or the audience never had to see any of the hardships.

So as long as a wheelchair can squeak by a car can park on the sidewalk? Is this true or parking spaces so I can park 6" from your driver side door? What about in front of your driveway? You can get out if you drive on the grass. I'm just making sure I understand your stance on using non-roadways to park.
- Comment on Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard deal gets preliminary approval from UK regulator 1 year ago:
they’re gonna handle so many companies without a good track record of being able to do it. To make the money from King they will need to be able to retain talent and steward its properties properly.
No they don't. As we've already seen, MS doesn't have to do anything in regards to development. Promotion, marketing will get a boost but they can be hands off most of the technical details and still make bank. Bethesda, King and Activision are all quite profitable on their own. Now they simply can't develop for Sony and they get distributed on Game Pass day 1.
Also, exclusionary buy-outs are bad for the market and should not have been allowed. MS buying up huge game competitors and then restricting their choice on which platforms to develop for is clearly anti-competitive behavior.
