- Comment on What's the difference between ignorance and stupidity? 2 days ago:
By that logic, everyone is extremely stupid, since it’s impossible to know everything.
- Comment on Protect consumers my ass! 🤦🏻😡 6 days ago:
Meh, the article mostly argues semantics. Sure “intellectual property” is a loaded phrase, but what is meant by the layperson is just “I made it, I should profit from it”, i.e. copyright. We’re not talking about massive corporations here and hindering right-to-repair, I’m talking to a guy who made something useful (likely software or music or whatever creative) and wants to sell it.
- Comment on Protect consumers my ass! 🤦🏻😡 1 week ago:
Stealing intellectual property is only a problem because your survival is not guaranteed without it. If you could live a comfortable life no matter what, it would be much better for the whole of humanity if your current IP was simply available to everyone.
Just imagine if all the duplicate work from competition immediately disappeared and instead everyone in whatever field just shared their insights and built on each other’s work.
Of course, that only works once everyone’s survival is not dependent on this IP concept anymore. But it should be clear that in an utopian society, IP is just stupid.

Try run decade (even years) old binaries on Linux, good luck.
I’ve actually had a case where something old didn’t work on Windows, but was fine on Linux with wine, lol
- Comment on Why do tires have the width and diameter they do? 3 weeks ago:
There’s no space for thread pattern if the area is too small.
- Comment on Why do tires have the width and diameter they do? 4 weeks ago:
Are you joking? Car wheels could theoretically have a diameter of 1 inch/3 cm and a width of 2 meters. Why do they not is the question.
- Comment on Why do tires have the width and diameter they do? 4 weeks ago:
While there is no area in the friction equation, in the real world it is nonetheless a factor. You got to remember that a larger area makes it so small patches of lower friction (sand patch or water or trash or whatever) have less of an impact. More area also gives more opportunity for the ridges in tires to displace water or grip onto gravel/dirt. While friction is the same, total traction is not.
- Comment on How do I deal with children following me around in video games? 4 weeks ago:
You’re supposed to be “mean” (it’s not mean at all) in this case.
Tell them to stop following you around or talking to you, nicely, exactly once.
Then, if they don’t comply, you are probably dealing with a troll who enjoys annoying people. Children especially are prone to that. You have to stop doing anything interesting for a bit, just go afk, make a tea or whatever, and wait until they get bored and move on. Then you can resume playing.

Dude, it’s ok to be wrong sometimes, no one would judge you :) In fact, it’s a sign of strength to be able to admit you’re wrong, and people will like you more for it. It’ll also be good for you personally as you will be more effective in more things :)
- Comment on WOMEN. 1 month ago:
Yeah making this into a man vs woman thing is stupid, I took the original post just as a person just saying “people can have different kinds of intelligence, everything should be respected”

Microsoft does change its API. And then Proton/Wine just changes with it.

Yeah that’s what I’m saying, the place here is a bubble of AI haters. Yet OP somehow is in it, even though they are an AI lover. They have not been fed “their” bubble, but get exposed to a different form of thinking than their own. That’s the opposite of what you said.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 month ago:
Doesn’t make too much sense though, because OP said they love AI. If what you said was true, then they should have experienced the bubble of AI lovers, which they don’t.
Also, it’s quite evident that Lemmy is not at all “designed to feed ‘engagement’”, yet it is prevalent here anyway. “Scaled” sorts are the default, which specifically promote the less popular opinions.
This has nothing to do with structural differences, OP simply engages with different kind of people irl and online.
- Comment on Ada Lovelace 1 month ago:
That is just wrong though. There have been plenty of reputable studies with good methodology that do show differences between the sexes.
That does not mean that one or the other is better in general, it means women and men complement each other.
It also doesn’t mean that these innate advantages/disadvantages at certain tasks are significant enough so they are impossible to overcome, there are plenty of men good at communicating or whatever, even though women are generally slightly better at it, and so on.
- Comment on How can I earn 100$ (before tax) in 24 hours? 1 month ago:
I’m not sure what you’re saying. Easy to get feet pics or easy to make money with it?
- Comment on Ada Lovelace 1 month ago:
Wait you’re telling me that women are better? So that differences between the sexes exist?
- Comment on How can I earn 100$ (before tax) in 24 hours? 1 month ago:
… no
Degenerates want to get feet pics of people they know in some way, so as long as they aren’t famous or already have some kind of following, that’s not going to work.
Random feet pics you can get at any point in time and don’t need to pay for.

This, but instead of your rant against the US, just humans in general. Every country has those kinds of people that would enable evil. The only difference is that that in different places their evilness is allowed in different amounts/representation.
- Comment on Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer 1 month ago:
Did not know this existed.
The guy is less concerning than the crowd being into it. He’s obviously on drugs, sure, whatever. The crowd (probably) isn’t, yet they’re celebrating it. I couldn’t believe it.
No wonder we’re fucked as a species.
- Comment on I'd like to change my last name and want suggestions 1 month ago:
For any advice post, there should be one thing that is most important: a clear description of the problem.
Otherwise, all advice is almost completely random/useless. Because maybe changing the name is the right solution, but maybe it isn’t. There’s no way to know.
In my opinion, there is no explanation of the problem at all here. You just say “too identifiable”, however my name/lastname is probably also completely unique, yet I can’t even think of a problem I would have with that.
So, what is the actual problem?
