Clearly she needs to play more female lead games.
It’ll sure get her back into woke gaming!
👩💻 - Comment on How is your actual political literacy like? 1 week ago:
I believe the same. Simulations, theory testing, even self exploration are great ways games have provided to us the means to discover our political nature, and how we can achieve means.
It’s saddening many do not want to question the praxis they commit.
- Comment on How is your actual political literacy like? 1 week ago:
Political literacy implies you know what you want to do with your life, and how you will politically achieve those goals. I am asking
Lemmy.worldwhat is their literacy us like, as yours.
How do know your politics, and what are you doing to achieve those means.I already obtained Scrubble’s answer.
What are yours? - Submitted 1 week ago to games@lemmy.world | 5 comments

Apparently you’re digressively victimizing your agendas, against mines, capitalists, Laura’s, Velma’s, and creatives. GL with whatever your agenda is not.
- Comment on Laura Fryer - HR needs to stay in their lane (and out of Game Development) 1 week ago:
It’s simply that corporations don’t understand creative work.
I wish you were a tad politically literate. Capitalists are against 🌈creativity✨ Corporations are owned by capitalists. It is in their interests to exploit the workers’ creative process, even sabotage them, for undeterred profit.
They are meant quite literally to go counter to everything a corporate environment pushes for.
🤔 weird how that is, huh
I guess my thesis, seperate from Laura’s, is that HR and these other teams need to let creatives be creatives.
Then those teams have to be anticapitalist, by default.
HR should be there for HR reasons, Legal should protect the company from liability, and marketers should market the product, but none of them (or the executives) should be swaying the creative process to make their jobs easier.
Then you miscomprehend why executives hired all the above to sway the creatives to make their lives richer.
It’s their jobs to protect the creative process, not the other way around.
And this is the thesis, me, Velma, and other creatives have been saying yor millennia: vanguards are class traitors. They only exist to protect “executives.” “Executives” created HR to vanguard their interests.
- Comment on Laura Fryer - HR needs to stay in their lane (and out of Game Development) 1 week ago:
What “other way”?
Capitalists still own the IP to the games.
Capitalists still larceny from the workers they hire.
Capitalists still culture their companies with vanguards (HR) or not.
The overton window is firmly still leaning far right: authoritarian, 1 person owning all the means.I am not dear Velma, but I am politically literate enough to know the window has shifted fascist.
- Comment on Laura Fryer - HR needs to stay in their lane (and out of Game Development) 1 week ago:
This is disgusting Scrubbles. Why did you post a fascist to propagandize capitalist’s vanguards are “the problem?” HR were created by capitalists to oppress the proletariat. They are quite literally doing their job: protect the interests of capitalists.
Capitalism has always killed games. It is in their very political praxis to ruin social past times.
No capitalist is for gaming. Gaming is their enemy. - Comment on 1 week ago:

I’ll bring my game to a physical playtesting event in germany/bavaria/fuerth today. The event is called “Pizza playtest Mittelfranken” luma.com/8jkqbl5a (no proper website sadly) I have been there twice so far and is has always been nice and productive. So if you are in the area, drop by and i’d be happy to have a chat :-) There is free pizza in case that motivates you ^^
This icalendar event is soooo improperly set. Next time do a month-2week-1week,3final day reminders. Saw GB is also down.

It’s been 17 days since Sony deleted your movies.
Time to get offline. - Comment on PSBLACKOUT (boycott of PlayStation) 3 weeks ago:

Then be sure to tell the organizers to set the record of indefinite consecutive weeks of protest.

How do people get a taste of strikes and boycotts in the middle of summer?
- Comment on PSBLACKOUT (boycott of PlayStation) 3 weeks ago:
The only people that made change my views was Vanillaware. But their Switch release made me angry at myself for believing in digital scarcity. I won’t fall for haggling tactics like these again.

It depends on the type of work you’re asking.
If you only want a transcription, with no notes, alternative interpretations, directions, dictions, etc., it can be really cheap on the quality you’re seeking. The requester had asked several additional things than just a transcription: typesetting, font work, editing, translation notes, sfx, 擬態語, 擬容語, hosting, etc… Scanlation was more than he could afford for a singular chapter, even at a salaried rate. For a PSP, it is correct that a single game is cheaper than a whole series, but not many people buy a transcription to a game linearly. Games have options, branches, game lingo, settings, impact, etc… It’s not just asking “does character A do this action Y” but “goal YZK is achieved by the exact complicated arrangements of GOHEDOTN, in order to progress branch Σ of mode O.” Often too, we are requested to reverse engineer parts of the game to make an appropriate working non-hazardous patch file, so the game emulates the origin language narratives as close as target language can yield. Meaning, game design elements need to be considered as well as testing and quality assurance. Making game localization one of the most expensive media to localize, while also one of the most cut-throat professions to that budgets are eliminated first.
So depending how large and convoluted the game is, you’re asking in the tens thousands and up. Maybe up to a million and some change. It reads like a lot, but recall, every part of game localization needs to be tested, retested, and attested. It’s not as simple as transcribing a visual novel, even if some VNs break conventions and standards.
And unlike most cut-throat localizers, I am politically, financial, and media literate, meaning, I shan’tbe asking for Iranian Rial when I know I can ask for Kuwaiti dinar. I want to be compensated fairly, and anyone I hire to to work I know I will need to iron out work that I am not strong in. Say e.g. the game is a rhythm-music game, I already know I will need to hire a sound editor to assure the localized songs emulate more than just voice synthesized melodies, no? I know my strengths and weaknesses. I also know the importance of having another person than a client and I review our work, and mediate conflicts. Last thing I want is to get sued for not owning rights to the work that was commissioned. NDAs cost plenty more than doing open commissions.

Last time I cited my asking price to localize a whole manga series, the lemmy deleted the thread, and pretend to never have ask.
He still posts on c/crackwatch@lemmy.dbzer0.com. The lesson I learned is that when I can reafford to host mine pylova, I will have «Remote instances cannot delete posts» enabled by default. That way, I can’t be gaslight again. - Comment on PSBLACKOUT (boycott of PlayStation) 3 weeks ago:

sure.
But be aware crawlers (search engines), OCR, and even suggestions sorters are trained on data, especially adversarially. Some infringing IP, some self-generated.
OP got smacked for using a LLM, when e could have hired localizers, even 🧵. - Comment on [deleted] 3 weeks ago:

… how do you think these aggregating sorters are trained? OCR you shot your own argument.
train them with data collected legally

🧵, blatantly. But asset diffusers from stolen assets are also highly discouraged, as they are illegal, and it demonstrated the planet the two classes than ever before: corporate power can lobby copyright infringement, while everyone else cannot. Many hate it for quality reasons. I hate it because it’s fascism in its purest form: appropriating assets without consent.
