  The machine beeps when the software cycle completes but often the mechanical process termination lags behind this due most commonly to sunspots. Happy now.

  That part of your mind that is consciousness is regarded by the rest of the brain as quite a simple thing I think. The information it receives in terms of vision for example needs to be carefully cartooned for it, your consciousness, that part of your brain you regard as yourself needs to be told only about clouds and blue sky and a rabbit jumping in green grass. What the subconscious mind actually receives from the eye is 120 million electrical dot point signals many times a second carrying information like light intensity up small amount spectral shift large left. It has to piece all that together to give a good guess at what might be happening outside the skull, marry it with the information coming from the other eye to suggest the third dimension, compare it to what the information was in the previous millisecond dataset to infer action and blend that all into signals from the other senses and a general running model of what is likely to be there and dumb that down and send rabbits and clouds to the conscious mind. Sometimes in all of this vague threats are detected and monitored but the conscious mind is not explicitly informed so it doesn’t get upset. The subconscious mind is doing this while also managing a virtual infinity of internal bodily system signals also requiring constant response.

  The input from your senses is sent to your subconscious mind which sends a report to your conscious mind, but it’s just a summary and sometimes in review needs an addendum.

  I have done it a little myself because I have a natural tendency otherwise to close small talk down. I think because while I like people theoretically in practise that sentiment can wander.

  I think people who are socially inept are often advised to strike up innocuous little throwaway conversations with strangers in public places to improve their ability to interact. Unfortunately this is also exactly the MO of killers in CSI programmes.

  Might you not be getting the causality reversed and it is actually your mood that is dictating the nature of your dreams. My guess would be you have some problems your subconscious is examining via dreams.

  Thanks, I am not the OP, parts of ffmpeg are bundled with the k-lite codec pack which I have for media player classic but mainly I use avidemux for simple video cuts and encoding. Probably should have mentioned that earlier but I went off on a unhelpful side-rant.

  But the complicated software or really most software is not efficient and too wide a church with too big a footprint and wants trialed subscription and your email and permission to know your location and what you watch on TV and what you meant by that thing you said on the phone to your brother and can you write a review and take a survey and it just weighs people down and they seek out the easy.

  People say easy because they are tired, they maybe remember the early days when people wrote freeware that performed just one function, very clearly. Now programs can tend to follow the coat hanger and combined harmonica rule and that can be quite tiring.

  Despite the things you have said you have done the distribution of wealth has become more polarised across your generation than before. Your children with good cause will blame you for their world as you blame the generations before you, in spite of your efforts to improve things. Possibly those before you recognised the way things were going and worked as hard as you to correct them but were as ineffective as you have been and for the same reasons. My point is you are on the Titanic blaming the weight of the other passengers for it sinking and not the iceberg.
