- Comment on I'm a dev who has been working on my game for 2 years and my game title got stolen on Steam and they plan to release before I do. What should I do? 4 days ago:
You didn’t come up with the name and it’s perfectly realistic to imagine more than 1 person coming up with a similar idea based on the same concept. Even if someone “stole” your idea - do it better than them and you’ll have nothing to worry about. I’d be more understanding of your concern if a big AAA studio happened to make this release so close to yours, but even then not much you can do due to aforementioned reasons. And while Steam lets you use any name you want, even if it’s already taken, it will put your game first on the search list if more people interact with it, which will naturally happen if your game is good.

Slop detectors might as well be random number generators, it will never give you 0% because it’s slop in and of itself.

When they say “console exclusive”, they mean among the consoles it will exclusively arrive on Xbox and nothing else.
- Comment on 007 First Light sequels will be 'done by MGM and, theoretically, by Amazon Game Studios,' Amazon exec says 2 weeks ago:
I mean specifically the sequel(s). The current game I would’ve already gotten if I didn’t have to spend money on something else, but still intending to buy it some time later, looks fun and pretty much exactly what I expected.

And I won’t be buying it then. Great job whoever decided this, saves me 70€ 🙂
- Comment on How are you using your laptop (with internet) that still runs Windows10? 3 weeks ago:
Same way you’d use a phone that’s EOL. Even my old ass EOL router still held up because it accepted no incoming calls as if it wasn’t even there. Any other more involved attack vectors would probably fall outside of scope for the people potentially targeting an average person. Where the real danger lies with outdated systems, especially W10 while it’s still fairly fresh, is user error - visit the wrong link or download a wrong file and you are in the world of pain.

Shouldn’t that be insanely illegal? This is literally malware. Even if someone is outright hacking into your servers, you can’t just hack back and ruin their system. There’s a reason the legal side is not supposed to resort to illegal actions, the fuck.

They don’t block it for logged in users yet, just like reddit, but if you are logged out and have no cookies then they will block the playback for known VPN IPs.
- Comment on 60% of PC gamers have no plans to build a new PC in the next two years — AI pricing crunch on RAM and other components paralyze enthusiast market 4 weeks ago:
I don’t believe in “just upgrading” at this point. If you built your PC with efficiency in mind, there’s like nothing you can even “upgrade”. Anything I can think of will get outdated by the time you need the next thing. A new GPU? Oh, you are still on Gen3… that means a new motherboard. Updating from AM4 to AM..4? Nah that feels like bad value, but AM5 requires DDR5, both of which have already been out for almost 5 years and will likely get replaced in a year or 2. Upgrading RAM? Again, just bumping DDR4 for a marginally better/larger cap DDR4 feels like bad value and unwarranted. Storage? Whoops, your old motherboard doesn’t support NVMe booting and it’s BIOS hasn’t been touched in over 5 years! You are lucky if you even have an M.2 slot.
And believe it or not, these prices are not even the worst they’ve ever been, so might as well just get a new PC every 5 or so years, maybe keep your old storage, CPU cooler, PSU and case, but that’s about it.
- Comment on What would the next pres of USA have to do to gain back trust for America? Hold a televised event saying the last person was just a fuck up? 1 month ago:
Lol, yep. It’s hilarious reading the replies here, as if every government outside of US is some ultra liberal paradise that cares a ton about what the US fascists been doing. Lula was championed for not being Bolsonaro, Magyar is championed for not being Orban. As long as the next owner of russia is not putin, stops the war and returns to the status quo of mostly terrorizing their own people - everyone will restore relations with them as if everything is perfect. It would take much less effort for the likes of US.

Oof, that’s a pass. They rehash half of the work - I ain’t paying at least half of the original price.

Looks good so far, if it runs well that’s a neat surprise of the year. Fingers crossed it’s not 70€ lol.
- Comment on Why are Steam games priced unfairly in Euros indifferent to where one resides? 1 month ago:
It’s not an issue that needs to be fixed by us. It’s not impossible to price digital goods differently in different countries, but companies would rather close up shop than let you buy a product cheaper than in your region. At the end of the day - the lowest they can price it is how much it realistically costs and the rest is extra fees for living in more developed countries, but they are greedy and don’t care about consumers one bit.
Also the digital segregation you are describing is already rolling out anyway with ID verification, that won’t solve the problems you think it will however.
- Comment on Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Director Says It Did Gay Romance "Right" By Not Going "Woke" 2 months ago:
If he was trying to say that, he would’ve said that. “I think the reason why our game succeeded in portraying a gay relationship in medieval times, when it was definitely not as widely accepted as it is today, was because we took that fact into account and developed the story around it, so it made sense while still representing a group that existed throughout all history.” != “We still pander to the gays for free sales but not like those woke guys.”
- Comment on Why do airports place a cap on 10,000 USD for undeclared cash? 2 months ago:
Exhibit A: https://time.com/6563886/arnold-schwarzenegger-watch-tax-customs-detention-climate-auction/
In certain scenarios I wouldn’t even be able to take my other phone or a tablet with me, because a lot of airports/customs consider only 1 phone as “essential” and not subject to any regulations.
- Comment on How should a news article website financially sustain itself? 2 months ago:
Non profit + partnerships (e.g. Google/Bing/whatever posting your articles on their start pages) and/or government grants (strictly with no strings attached).
- Comment on Anyone else looking forward to the new Starfield dlc and update? 2 months ago:
100%, though I hope they expand on the freeflying and let you also approach planets and land manually, even if all it does is the same loading in as from the map but with a disguised loading screen in a form of you approaching the landing spot instead.
- Comment on Is there any decent PvP FPS that's not infested with cheaters? Looking for a decent PvP FPS 2 months ago:
You’d think, but Joelemz is doing 100% of all CoD’s on his YT/Twitch and people are cheating in old CoD games on consoles. If there’s online there are going to be cheaters. I even encountered some in old Chivalry…
- Comment on Where can I ask less stupid questions? 2 months ago:
Yeah that’s basically what you do, but the keyboard’s firmware needs to report itself as a gamepad for it to work, Wooting offers xinput and HID modes, iirc Keychron only does xinput and then Razer I don’t remember. Unfortunately the next best thing was some smaller company that had very limited beta support for such modes, and no other company gives a shit at all.
Alternatively Steam Input would have to add support for keyboards&mice, but the suggestions on Steam forums has been unanswered since 2021, so I highly doubt it would happen any time soon.
- Comment on Where can I ask less stupid questions? 2 months ago:
On the off chance one of your desired features is gamepad emulation - Wooting is the only one that has a full proper implementation of it via xinput emulation. Keychron has partial support and Razer has full support but in a different manner (don’t remember the specifics).
