I don’t know how much of that was developer hubris and how much publisher (Sony) pression to deliver. Internet historian made great video about NMS, and at least from dev perspective it was a clusterfuck of massive overprimising and bad circumstances.

Ok
- Comment on Is there music I haven't heard because I only speak English? 6 days ago:
Every language has their own music, with their own styles and little masterpieces. Considering how many languages there are, you’re mostly just scratching the surface

- Comment on Email came out of nowhere 1 week ago:
It’s obvious that GoG is bunch of polish Nazis and since CDPR one of founders is GoG owner, it means CDPR is Nazi.
- Comment on Email came out of nowhere 1 week ago:
Sure there’s intent. Obviously!
- Comment on The speed of light 2 weeks ago:
Energy=mass always. Theoretically you can make a black hole out of light, or you can turn that photon energy into inertial mass by running light in a closed loop.
- Comment on The speed of light 2 weeks ago:
They have mass. Everything that has energy has mass. They don’t have inertial mass but it’s just part of the equation

What if you don’t have enough engineers to do crucial work? What people want to do in general doesn’t have to be aligned with what is needed. Financial incentives are there to reward people for picking career path that is needed. If every wage is the same you have no incentives and you’ll get misalignment.
- Comment on Damn straight! 2 weeks ago:
The problems you list are solvable
They aren’t. Every solution proposed by Marxists is fatally flawed.
- Comment on Damn straight! 2 weeks ago:
The unnecessary one.
- Comment on Damn straight! 2 weeks ago:
society can choose to believe that the value of the work lies in the effort rather than the output
Beliefs won’t feed you. Raw output won’t feed you either. What feeds you is an output of things society actually needs. There’s no reasonable way of gathering information of what every single member of society needs, worse some members will lie to get more resources than they should. That approach has fundamentally unsolvable problems
- Comment on Damn straight! 2 weeks ago:
all work is equal
It isn’t.
- Comment on Damn straight! 2 weeks ago:
And I wouldn’t bother being power line engineer if I could just flip burgers for the same wage

- Comment on If you found out that your son had actually been extremely wealthy for years, and you only found out decades later, how would you react? 2 weeks ago:
Why should I care? His wealth is his personal matter.
- Comment on Is it safe to use a non-gaming computer for light gaming? 2 weeks ago:
It’s perfectly safe. Games are like any other apps - your CPU doesn’t care if it’s processing game code or office spreadsheet
- Comment on Why have we as a society just accepted the increasingly blinding bright lights of cars? 2 weeks ago:
Geometry of lights is strictly controlled. It shouldn’t be an issue (At least it isn’t that much of an issue in EU). It’s possible you have an eye accommodation issue too.

And you have no idea it makes you automatically in top 1-2% world wide.
- Comment on The rich convinced us that taxing them is too complicated but everyday people can be taxed pretty easily 3 weeks ago:
And? 1M of retirement money still makes you filthy rich bourgeoisie. State should tax the shit out of you, and provide back minimum fair sustenance.
- Comment on The rich convinced us that taxing them is too complicated but everyday people can be taxed pretty easily 3 weeks ago:
How about removing property tax for sake of consistency?
- Comment on The rich convinced us that taxing them is too complicated but everyday people can be taxed pretty easily 3 weeks ago:
Nah why? We could boil the frog into 80% on everyone this way.
