Cleaning up for months
Sounds like my first internship. Huge, multi-million dollar test loop for compressor validation. Shortly after I left one day a 1/4 inch tube fitting on top of the compressor, part of the oil system, sheared off during a test. While I dont remember the oil pressure I do remember the video a coworker took of the incident.
Oil geysering all the way to the 40ft high ceiling. For 45 minutes.
I get back the next day and the whole test loop is covered in oil. Footprint-wise think two semi trailers next to each other. Oil on the floor, oil in the (water only) trench drains which they had dammed quickly, oil on thousands of feet of piping.
Let me reiterate; I was the intern. Aka, my job description now included “waste oil remediation.” It took a week-ish for your boots to stop sticking as you walked and far longer than that to clean the piping.
To top things off this happened in winter and the oil viscosity reflected the cold conditions. Thus as spring and summer rolled in and the temperature increased the pipes started…dripping. Honestly this was years ago and I suspect they’re still wiping oil up here and there.

Honestly I bet the drum of acid was darker anyways.

You’ll have to forgive them for their unfamiliarity with money, they’re an artist.

My pleasure, friend. I’m a major guitar nerd and Tosin is one of the most skilled and creative modern guitarists I know of and I love to sing his and AaL’s praises.
The Brain Dance is another excellent, more recent and much softer song of theirs. I’d also recommend you check out Tosin’s live playthrough of Wave of Babies on the EMG YT channel.
Regardless, if you or another reader is interested in guitar-centric instrumental rock give these a listen. Unlike AaL, I wouldn’t call any of these bands heavy FWIW;
Covet
Chon
Scale the Summit (stick to old stuff)
Intervals (new stuff)
Polyphia

Just to follow-up on this in a bit more detail for you and other readers; Animals as Leaders is a three piece instrumental band with Toxin, another guitarist Javier Rayes^1 and a drummer, Matt Gartska. The band lacks a bassist for a nifty reason.
Whereas the typical guitar has 6 strings, Tosin and Javier both play 8-string guitars. Those two extra strings are tuned lower and allow a guitar to play the same low notes as a bass. These two dudes dont swap roles so much as accompany themselves, though. They’re both incredibly talented and create music with rhythmic complexity and depth.
Physical Education is catchy and bouncy and the music video is silly. They dont take themselves very seriously, but they do take their music and performance seriously. All three are extremely skilled musicians.
^1: Javier’s solo project Mestís is also amazing. Softer than AaL and heavily inspired by Spanish rhythms and melodies.

I was gonna be telling but I’m glad you beat me to it.
Instead, I will VERY LOUDLY EMPHASIZE THAT TOSIN ABASI IS ONE OF THE BEST MODERN GUITARISTS AND EVERYONE SHOULD LISTEN TO HIS BAND ANIMALS AS LEADERS

Hell yeah love that blog. I should see if Triethylaluminium is in there…I briefly had an internship working with it and handling pyrophorics in a vacuum glove box was a certain sort of thrill to be sure.
