Good, America sucks.
- Comment on What's gunna to happen when the American Federal Government starts prosecuting people for owning powerful computer hardware and software? 1 week ago:
Nah, Americans’ are weak. Too busy with social media and shit to do anything. I’ve been trying to recruit people for violent reformation for months now and nobody is interested. Everyone either thinks the next election will fix things or are too afraid to take action.
- Comment on 1 week ago:
I agree. I purposely applied magnets to floppies and like…maybe 9/10 had issues but generally it was a non-issue.
Now…filling a floppy disk with shaved off match head dust…
- Comment on It is only a matter of time before private citizens are arrested and charged with crimes for owning/using powerful computer parts and software without official permission and authentication 1 week ago:
It should absolutely worry you, all of it, not sure what your problem is, but wasting my time fighting you is what they want, so I am bowing out.

The rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer, and whether you participate in it or not will not change that. That all of us will continue to not even have the opportunity to play on a level playing field should concern you. I don’t give a shit about your opinion on AI in general; this is still a problem for us.

Part of me thinks this is why memory prices are being held high. Even if supply increases I doubt we’ll see significant reductions in price.
Frontier AI models will only be accessible by the rich and powerful (government and corpos). Distilled frontier models for local use may exist but will be arbitrarily out of reach for most due to hardware availability or pricing.
This is all by design.
- Comment on Do you think that Edward Snowden is a hero? 2 weeks ago:
Yeah sorry Kevin Mitnick. Always supported this type of stuff… I guess I was missing the bridge there.
- Comment on Do you think that Edward Snowden is a hero? 2 weeks ago:
Wait what has he done since?
- Comment on Do you think that Edward Snowden is a hero? 2 weeks ago:
I got in trouble in school for putting free Kevin stuff on my binders, backpack, etc
Hero? From the stance of exposing things that should have been public knowledge, absolutely.
- Comment on I swear it won't hurt you if you use it for like a second 2 weeks ago:
I try 3-5 distros every 3-4 months and always end back up on a debloated heavily modified windows.
I don’t like windows, don’t get me wrong. But between driver issues, app issues, some utilities I can’t seem to find a replacement for, and a suboptimal shared remote access approach - I really can’t make things work well enough to not degrade my day to day work productivity.
That said, I do run Linux distros for very specific things at work or my homelab just fine…I just can’t seem to figure out a way to run it as my dedicated personal and/or work machine without making heavy concessions.

- Comment on Old Americans who voted for Trump(who fucked their health-insurance) after hearing that healthcare in Europe is free: 4 weeks ago:
Every single day over the last 10ish years the US looks worse and worse (I already didn’t love it) and almost everywhere else looks significantly better.
I want to leave.
- Comment on Shutting down a piracy site 5 weeks ago:
I think it just depends what you’re after maybe. It’s rare I can’t find something, even older things - but if it does happen I have a friend who can grab it for me.
Otherwise, I have both a US and UK subscription as well as access to a 10+ year running private indexer so I rarely have issues with finding things or retention - I can use fully encrypted connections and I can cap my 5gbit fiber line.
- Comment on Shutting down a piracy site 1 month ago:
Usenet working fine still. Generally faster speeds than torrenting and upload requirements.

Then maybe an honorable citizen will just disappear them.
- Comment on For people who distrust police / the legal system: If you ran a small bussiness and need to hire people, and someone has a conviction but they claim innocence, do you hire them? 2 months ago:
Depends on what it is, I have hired people with past convictions before, though.
Like, trespassing? Okay whatever.
Shoplifting 15 years ago? Okay whatever.
Embezzling money a couple years ago and you’re going to be a cashier? Yeah, no.
- Comment on Why would anyone doordash food from a place that already does delivery? 2 months ago:
Fuck DD as a company, but…
Usually if I use DD it’s via company benefits so I don’t even have to pay for it - that’s one reason.
Some places near me only let you order deliver by phone and I have to call like 10 times to get through because it’s busy.
Some places near me just schluff delivery off to DD anyway, so I might as well use DD to begin with.
As others have said, some places also won’t deliver to me. I’m about 5 minutes outside of city limits so a lot of in-house delivery places refuse to deliver to me even if I offer extra money (I’ve tried). DD doesn’t seem to care about that extra distance.
Related, Dominoes won’t deliver to me, but they will deliver across the street from me to a parking lot if I place a pin. It is more dangerous for their driver to go there and have to take an unprotected left back to the store versus a right from where I live, but 🤷♂️

I think OP is asking how you figure that out. In general, billionaires don’t “make” anything - on paper.

- Comment on Why are public school teachers so underpaid in the US? 3 months ago:
All the other answers are correct.
Republicans / conservatives in the US are a poison. Delusional, evil. Either opportunist pieces of shit or certifiably the dumbest people in the world.
Their existence is a net negative, period, full stop. Their non-existence…well, take that as you will.

I wanted to exit tech and thought bars might work.
They didn’t. Even loving what I did in bar-land, it ultimately led to substantial debt that I’ll be paying on for years.
I was happier in general, but the financial viability was impossible.
