Hey!
I’m new to piefed. I was a part of the Reddit migration originally. Since then, I really enjoyed the conversations.
I’m a behavior therapist by day. Otherwise a bit of an introvert/gamer. I’m always up for a conversation. Unless I’m asleep, which is earlier and earlier these days.
- Comment on Do you ever feel guilty for trying to sign up for government assistance programs? 1 day ago:
Nope. Used them for years. Now I pay a fucky amount of taxes with my high paying job to support them. Use them. We live in a society.
- Comment on Sick days 2 days ago:
I get a base month of Pto but it’s not designated as a sick day. I just use it how I want (usually for emergencies lol). But I can earn like 2 more weeks as well. Which I know isn’t great compared to a first world country but most of my friends don’t get anything.
- Comment on What do you recommend I carry in my first wallet? 3 days ago:
Bank card, ID, library card, and maybe a small amount of cash. Nothing that you can’t cancel with a quick phone call or replace.
- Comment on What should I NOT do in front of rich people? 3 days ago:
You gotta fold the big floppy ones in half, silly.
Really that’s how we eat it .
- Comment on Is it normal I feel embarrassed about being female sometimes because of feminine smells I don't want to be associated with? 1 week ago:
This is internalized misogyny. Someone would only have that smell if they had an infection or other strong smells come from poor hygiene which is not related to sex specifically. Also, not like you’re going to know about it said smell unless you’re down there in someone else’s businesses. It is really not okay to let these sexist and nonfactual thoughts permeate to the point where you dislike yourself or are hateful towards women. I would see a therapist, and if you are around people who speak about women this way I would see them to the door.
- Comment on Is it better to follow your parents footsteps and help them with their thriving small bussiness, but you have to deal with toxicity, or trying going your own way and risk homelessness? 1 week ago:
I would say always be able to support yourself. You can help your parents if you want, but always be able to stand on your own. Otherwise you are vulnerable to victimization. Think…is it those very same parents who threaten you with homelessness if you have any independence? That will be held over you forever. I’d quietly work towards independent living while not causing a conflict.

Having allergies prob saved me from experiencing less socially acceptable recreations. I still have a Benadryl from time to time. For my allergies.
- Comment on Your teenager AND your husband 1 week ago:
Have to teach the child (grown adult should have self control and understanding of portion size) healthy eating habits.
I make one grocery trip a week so I’m not dealing with all that.
- Comment on From the mouth of babes 1 week ago:
I knew some with dead parents, a few in jail, a couple “call the police on sight” and plenty of abandonment… Life really isn’t fucking fair. I know it is a joke but it definitely is a privileged one.
- Comment on Draw! 1 week ago:
Oh absolutely. My industry is has a big shortage in practitioners.
- Comment on Draw! 1 week ago:
My current company was kind enough to give a dropdown menu of reasons. I just chose one, no questions were asked.
- Comment on Wrong number... hopefully 2 weeks ago:
I can afford an attic??
- Comment on :) 2 weeks ago:
I’m proud of you.
- Comment on What a selection! 2 weeks ago:
I always imagined the potions in stories would taste more earthy gross than chemically refined gross but that is why this is the bad place, isn’t it?
- Comment on I'm from the Greater Crotchopolitan Area 2 weeks ago:
My elbows were that way with sticking. Multiple passes are the worst.
- Comment on I'm from the Greater Crotchopolitan Area 2 weeks ago:
Never touched it!
- Comment on I'm from the Greater Crotchopolitan Area 2 weeks ago:
Truthfully the armpit and surrounding areas are my “never again” spot. Ribs tickled, elbow made me sneeze. I hear this varies a lot from person to person.
- Comment on Me too 2 weeks ago:
In New England sometimes winter can feel too much… if we have poor foliage and a gray, cold spring. That does happen and it sucks. Basically cold, dead appearing, and overcast for months.
- Comment on Attractive people 3 weeks ago:
Meh. I’m more into big juicy brains. Not in a zombie way. Outside appearance is not relevant other than hygiene.
- Comment on Those of you who are angry at the US for allowing ICE to stifle people's liberties - how do you channel your anger and irritation? 3 weeks ago:
I get through it by pouring most of my energy into helping my clients, come home drained, and catch up with my kids, rot, pass out and sleep like a rock. I have many fears and worries and plans but I turn them off for the 3-4 hours in the afternoon of home time or I’d lose my mind. I commiserate with peers in our shared office during the day/between tasks.
- Comment on ChatGPT wrote “Goodnight Moon” suicide lullaby for man who later killed himself 4 weeks ago:
People are seeking ai “help” is really troubling. They are already super vulnerable…it is not an easy task to establish rapport and build relationships of trust especially as providers, who will dig into these harmful issues. It’s hard stuff. The bot will do…whatever the user wants. There is no fiduciary duty to their well-being. There is no humanity nor could there be.
There is also a shortage of practitioners, combined with insurance gatekeeping care if you are in the US. This is yet another barrier to legitimate care that I fear will continue to push people to use bots.

Media exposure is really difficult to combat. I have behaviors remediated, then a few days of exposure due to parental neglect, and its back to being called slurs and being SA’d by a five year old. Building a case based on these things to help just one person….but there are so many growing up on media that is too mature, without context or collaboration from instructors….they are being filled with awful opinions they just uncritically accept as universally true. I know it going to get worse before it gets better. I know it took me so much work to get my on to explain his every opinion with supporting details, to make him stop parroting. And that was limited exposure from school and other boys.

I do hope many of them develop and grow up away from it. Otherwise I guess they’ll have to be lonely.
- Comment on 4 weeks ago:
Poor male spiders in the web with big mama 😢
- Comment on 4 weeks ago:
Those are beautiful. Not native where I am. It reminds me of the “banana spiders” where I grew up. There used to be these big, majestic nests of them. I ran face first through one as a kid. Definitely a core memory.
- Comment on 4 weeks ago:
I’ve gotten brave in my old age. I only relocate them if they become extremely inconvenient …like my doorway spider (sorry frank). I ignore house spiders entirely as they transit my house. Good luck, leggy friend.
I have a pretty orb weaver on the porch (or I did last summer). Hope I get another.
- Comment on We all took foreign languages in school and none of us can actually speak those languages 4 weeks ago:
I retained enough to provide basic information to my ESL kiddos/parents, at least in Spanish. Use it or lose it, I really think.
- Comment on conditional soap 5 weeks ago:
I have a ton of hair so I’ve tried a ton of different products and types. I found the $10 highly moisturizing stuff to be the most effective. It also lasts a while because it’s not super watery. The dish detergent quality stuff makes my hair brittle and fall out. Which is pretty inconvenient since it’s about 2ft long at this point.

I forget the exact number but a surprising amount of fellas are also confident about winning a fist fight with a bear, so, yeah. This makes sense.
