Okay, so we can agree that the Bible has at least one passage that commands genocide, in that time, for those four groups? Not a gotcha, not a criticism of your faith, just a question about the content of the scripture.
Yes, I think slavery is bad even if the slave is treated well. Those Leviticus passages are interesting. Who is the “you” addressed in them? What’s the meaning of “your brother” in the second - does that mean any person, or a specific “in-group” of people?
The Luke passage is nice! It seems, from just the passages I’ve shared and the passages you’ve shared, that the Bible acknowledges slavery as extant during the various periods it was written, and sits on the fence about it. Was there a passage about how much you should charge for a slave, and how you should beat them? I believe I’ve heard that somewhere, but can’t look it up right now.

Sure, slavery was generally accepted until very recently - so would you say the bible endorses slavery, or denounces it?
Right, it’s the Lord commanding people to wipe out those groups. Whether or not the command should be reflected in the current day, that passage was written. That passage contains the Lord commanding people to wipe out groups - would you agree, or disagree?

The first one is an instruction to the enslaved telling them to obey their masters, whether they’re kind or cruel.
- Does that sound like the Bible says slaves should not be enslaved, should rise up and free themselves or be freed by others?
To your second point, the passage names Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. The bible actually refers to these groups separately, and collectively as the “nations” that are encountered by the Israelites. These groups do (generally) have distinct identities and practices.
- The passage Deuteronomy 20:17 commands followers to “completely destroy” each of these groups. How does that not constitute any sort of genocide?
I am absolutely happy to be wrong, and I’m not intending to be hostile - I know these beliefs are deeply held and are personal, and I’m not attacking you for your faith. Just want to make that clear! 👍

Which bit?
Slavery: 1 Peter 2:18
Genocide: Deuteronomy 20:17
Obviously these are just little tasters, there’s definitely more in there :)

Mate I’m not gonna comment on anything else you’ve said, but it’s very funny to see you immediately whine about an “ad hominem” given your other very personal insults and aggressive tone in other comments in this larger thread lol, it’s like… Grow a pair and insult people, or whinge about being insulted. Don’t do both 😂

Do you think it’s cos the police are scared of the people who can actually fight? Four bobbies to a granny but not one brave enough to face up to somebody their own size?

Honestly, fair play. Glad you’ve found a hack! I just ate an entire quiche from my local supermarket, cost like $3 for 800kcal.

On first reading that, I thought it was a bit fiddly or sort of defeating the point of “fast”, but actually the more I think about it… Fair enough lol, that’s cheap for that much food

Oh I see, you order fries and a drink using a deal to get $1.50, wait fifteen minutes, and then order a burger with another deal?

Why would you buy two orders when you only want one? Wouldn’t that literally double the cost, too?
- Comment on Baldur's Gate 3 or Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? 5 weeks ago:
That’s true, but I don’t want to miss out on gameplay just because the characters make me want to crawl out of my skin 😂 Astarion dies immediately for me too!
Yeah there are a lot of BG3 fans that are a bit unwilling to hear any criticism. Which is fine, they’re passionate about something they really love and they don’t need to hear my opinion 😅 You just kind of have to ignore a lot of them when you want to discuss the game.

It is sad that there are such few cases in an industry that could be so artistic! I wanna make it clear that I do have a lot of respect for indie Devs like Team Cherry for the way they’re working and the way they’re not exploiting their fans.
I have no strong feelings on whether this game, or Hollow Knight, are overhyped and I know they’re beloved. I enjoyed Hollow Knight.
I also do understand being sceptical of “beloved” products. There’s a lot of sneaky marketing tactics out there. I’m very anti-advertising, so I know I’m biased and probably a little paranoid lol
I’m absolutely not saying Team Cherry is doing some sneaky grassroots marketing campaign or anything, and I do believe that Silksong has a lot of people excited which is why we’re seeing so much chatter about it! We are not disagreeing.
I hope you’ve had a good start to the week! ✌️

Honestly I feel bad for not enjoying it. I really do wish I could stand the energy that character interactions in that game give off but I just can’t. I had to play mute the game several times, especially when Karlach was around.
The whole thing is just… Too much. And all the characters keep trying to fuck you, too?? It’s so uncomfortable, and very very “young adult fiction”.
I can tell the game was made with real passion, and I wish I could have enjoyed it more. I played like 60 hours I think and loved it until anybody opened their mouths 😂

No I get it, and that in particular is a good point, but the whole “you can’t criticise this until you’ve made something equivalent” is just nothing
- Comment on Hollow Knight: Silksong Will Release for Only $20, Release Times Revealed 5 weeks ago:
I wasn’t making any comment about that.

Whoa. Enormous respect to Team Cherry for this. It’s so cool to see people not rinsing passionate fans! Well done 🤘
- Comment on Hollow Knight: Silksong Will Release for Only $20, Release Times Revealed 5 weeks ago:
This kind of argument suuuuuucks. I can at least understand the other commenter being sceptical of games that are popular because marketers are sneaky like that (not that I agree with the person you’re replying to), but this “you can’t criticise unless you’ve developed a game” thing is no good
- Comment on Baldur's Gate 3 or Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? 5 weeks ago:
If you have a strong stomach for unbelievably cringeworthy theater kid energy but really fun gameplay, go for Baldurs Gate 3.
If you want to be upset during really fun gameplay, go for Clair Obscur.

I point blank refuse to use them. I’ve seen how they’ve affected my coworker and my boss - these two people now simply cannot read documentation, do not trust their own abilities to write code, and cannot debug anything that they write. My job has become more difficult since this shit started being pushed on us all.
