I have prosecuted plenty of trademarks. The logos and words are separate trademarks. For the word mark alone, Supergiant and Supermassive absolutely are likely to raise an initial LOC rejection in the same exact class of goods and services. It boils down to whether the similar words are likely to leave a confusingly similar market impression upon consumers. I legit think here it would be hard to argue around with a typical examining attorney–but the trademark office has a ton more lattitude in grants than the patent office, so it isn’t out of the question it could’ve been successfully argued or even granted initially.

It boils down to likelihood of confusion. I think there would be a legitimate concern here, tbh. But they could have come to an agreement when one registered their mark after the other one had already.

I’ve not seen the movie yet, but the comic it is based on is absolutely phenomenal and structured as a sort of myth telling exercise examining personal grief and effectively godhood. The villains are supposed to be one dimensional and incidental to Supergirl’s story.

It really wasn’t. Heinlein did not write Starship Troopers as an aspirational piece of milscifi and, while he definitely had some questionable politics, my understanding is that he was effectively thinking aloud as he wrote the book.

In my part of the US, it is on average 38k/yr to raise a child to 18. Rent/mortgage is about the same. Not even getting to utilities, food, and healthcare. Life is wildly expensive for families these days.

Fair. I appreciate your reasonable and informative reply to my admittedly more than a bit snarky post!

The gesture is very old because, and I know this is a wild unsubstantiated theory, it’s a pretty natural and organic way to hold your hand when speaking to or before a large group? I suppose magic makes more sense.
- Comment on President Trump: It's Not Doable for AI Companies to Pay for All Copyrighted Input * TorrentFreak 1 year ago:
Richard Stallman, the creator of the GPL, a “copyleft” license. The problem is that Open Source Software is entirely reliant on a strong copyright system to be enforced. There is nothing else that prevents companies from just keeping everything proprietary, even if it’s all oss under the hood.

Do you understand that even just in the category of communism, there is an enormous gamut of different approaches, of which you only seem to understand a very specific one? You understand that the bolshevicks, even under Lenin, murdered the “competing” communist groups, effectively regressing right back to authoritarianism and what would inevitably degrade into Stalinist autocracy? And so that even the, mischaracterizing, claim that “communism” went bad is basically nonsensical?
