  In the 2024 Japanese general election, LDP had to form a coalition with Komeito, and it still lost their parliamentary majority in the lower house for the first time in 15 years, with the LDP suffering its second-worst result in its history, securing only 191 seats.

  Less than a year and a half later, LDP went from a minority coalition party, dropped Komieto, and won an outright two-thirds supermajority and regaining its majority status in the chamber. The LDP’s total of at least 316 seats is the most ever won by a party in Japanese electoral history.

  I do NOT like Takaichi. But she undeniably turned LDP around in a historic way. LDP was majorly suffering in 2024, and nobody could’ve foreseen this much of a comeback.

  A somewhat similar thing happened to me. Made an admittedly spicy comment on r/FauxMoi on my main account. Got banned from that sub (which was fair). Made a second account months later and inadvertently commented on r/FauxMoi (literally just about a movie premiere date—the story was on my main page) without thinking about my prior account’s ban.

  Got immediately perma-banned for ban evasion. I appealed and was ignored. Oh well.

  And fwiw, you can still view all the content. Just can’t vote/comment. 🤷

  It’s also largely about the fact that—in theory—these are two jobs that involve ‘putting your life on the line’ to protect and defend innocent civilians, and usually in dire circumstances involving dangerous weapons/violent people. (NOT defending cops/US military, but just pointing out why those jobs can be publicly revered.)

  Also, in many/most(?) other countries, shooting two people absolutely would register nationally because civilian gun violence is a big deal and not normal around the world. You happen to live in the one country on the planet where guns vastly outnumber people and mass shootings are a daily regular occurrence.

  But yeah. Propaganda. Mostly that.

  Just researched this and apparently there has been at least one recorded case of a dolphin mouth-breathing. It likely only occurs when there’s something seriously wrong with the blowhole, but it can be done!
