i think you might be thinking of a different, similar story, or mixing together two stories. in this one, yes the dad went off to find help and died while his family got rescued, but the kids were 4 years old, and 7 months old, at the time, neither of which would i be inclined to call preteens (though of course, they technically were), and no sources i’ve seen mention breastfeeding at all.

that is part of the joke, but i think the main part of the joke is that they’re responding to your comment asking if your comment federated in the negative, despite the fact that by being able to read and respond at all from another instance, it is clear that your comment did federate.

regarding your edit, it was hardly a perfect solution. he just bit his lip real hard. that was his message to himself. i think it’s mentioned a few paragraphs before he tells mcgonnagall about it. it is in there, but it is easy to miss on the first read through, to be sure.

from my understanding, the ai cult initially sprang up on the forum he hosted (hosts? idk), but he didn’t exactly start it, any more than Queen Elizabeth II invented punk rock.
but he did write the fanfic, and it’s honestly pretty good. low bar i know, but dude’s a better author than jowling ever was, and i definitely recommend it to anyone into HP fanfics.
