Hmm, interesting. To be fair, I haven’t read it since HS and that was…decades ago. Based on what you said I might reread and reassess.

Can I ask why? It was actually one of my favorites in school, so just curious for a differing opinion.
- Comment on Masters of timing, Microsoft: Just one day from Windows 10 EOL and apparently the official Media Creation Tool isn't working 1 week ago:
As a daily windows user for work…Win11 is a night and day difference to Win10 and while I didn’t love windows before, I absolutely loathe it now.
So, yes, I absolutely agree with you.

- Comment on How I View the US After 13 Years Living in Europe 2 weeks ago:
Grocery store consolidation towards major chains, capitalism, covid-driven price hikes that stayed, tariff-related price hikes, or price hikes that just use tariffs as an excuse have led to rocketing grocery prices here. It is hard to measure since I don’t track every item historically, but on the whole I’ve seen 200%-300% price increases on some items and probably a 150-200% general increase to my total grocery bill overall.
- Comment on Do you think The Boys is an accurate representation if real people had superpowers? 2 weeks ago:
If people had superpowers, vats of trauma and ego issues, and megacorps wanted to wrangle it for profit and control… absolutely yes.
This would totally happen in the US and other countries. 100%. No doubt.
- Comment on New EA Owners Hoping AI Will Cut Costs And Boost Profits, It's Claimed 3 weeks ago:
For me the beauty of some games is the knowledge of the writers involved in a story or the composers for the music.
If I know upfront it’s all AI generated I think that’d ruin it for me. But I realize that’s just my opinion.

As someone who uses AI regularly for software engineering and ~2/3 of the time find it effective…
…there is no way it can produce quality games or gaming experiences.
I look forward to watching EA collapse. Get rekt.
- Comment on If you are in the US, and a karen threatens to call ICE on you, what's the best course of action? 3 weeks ago:
Kill them and hide the body.
Or call ICE on them. The last person I saw laughing about ICE activity is literally an overstayed-visa immigrant from Australia.

If I could get an RDP solution as seamless and performant as Windows RDP + a window manager that can be controlled without a mouse a la Power toys - I’d probably switch full-time and stop dual booting.

My bank did the same and I totally moved money the wrong way and fucked up and over drafted.
Luckily I don’t get overdraft fees with my bank. But who the fuck designed putting destination first after years of it being second?

- Comment on How Trump and corporations have hobbled US labor watchdog 1 month ago:
In short, they need a quorum to be effective, the Trump administration has ensured they don’t have one.
And if they get one soon, it’ll be a takeover by key players, so it’ll still be ineffective if not proactively destructive.
- Comment on Would you ever give up your right to leave a bad review about a company? 1 month ago:
Sketch AF, so, no.
I got something like a 70% discount on new triple paned windows for my whole house simply to be a neighborhood “demo” house. They still told me straight up if I didn’t like the work, to leave an honest review to that effect.
I had 2 sliders, 11 windows, 7 skylights replaced for under $10k and it made a night and day difference in heating, cooling, and noise. And because of my HOA at the time, I couldn’t abide by the “lawn signs” agreement so they waived it. And then COVID hit so I was excused from ever having to talk to anyone about the service.
I lucked out, yes, but all that to say they still said I should be honest in all interactions. If a company is enforcing not being honest, that seems suspect.

- Comment on AOL will end dial-up internet service in September, 34 years after it's debut — AOL Shield Browser and AOL Dialer software will be shuttered on the same day 2 months ago:
For one of them, yes, but it costs more than they want to pay.
For the other…sort of yes, but it goes out 50%-70% of the day for some dumb reason I’ve yet to figure out. The company has no plans to fix/improve it…and they’re the same company offering the dialup backup.

To be fair, I have rural family in areas where dial up is still their only internet option.

Oh, AI fucked your codebase? Well, it’ll take twice as much time to undo it all and fix it, my rate is $150/hr. Thanks.
