That begs a larger conversation about what is and isn’t ok to say informally at work.
Certainly “wheelchair” is not itself malicious and is less likely to be mistake prone than Seat 34a, especially if there’s only one patron in the room seated in a wheelchair. At the same time, the affected person might not enjoy being referred to by their disability.
I’m honestly not sure what the best solution is. Certainly, “red sweater” is less likely to cause offense than “black dude,” and 99% of the time these won’t be customer facing. I’m torn on whether the mistake was purely in writing it in the wrong location vs. whether the company as a whole should do better.
I know in the corporate world you typically don’t write down anything you don’t want read back to you later, and the fact that they realize the patron could be offended suggests that maybe they should adopt a similar policy of “never write down anything you wouldn’t want a customer to see.” At the same time, I’m aware most restaurants are not corporate culture and aren’t trying to be.

Huh? Regular cruise control works just fine for that. Where adaptive shines is heavier traffic and off-highway driving. I basically use it everywhere: just set it to the speed limit and let it go.

Yes.
Israel’s existence is a massive fuckup and part of the multiple failed partition experiments of the 20th century. But it’s been a real country for the past 80 years and there’s no way forward to undo that now.
Palestine is also a real country and Israel doesn’t have a right to genocide. The US likes to pretend otherwise so it can exert more control in the Middle East, but all they’re doing is making things worse for everyone.

It just wasn’t funny. It was a group of obnoxious young adults in apartments mugging for the camera.
The only episode that landed for me was the boys trying to move a couch upstairs with Ross shouting “PIVOT!” Otherwise, nothing really interesting happened. The “Smelly Cat” song everyone memed about was just grating.
And I remember what was popular about it was Ross and Rachel. Which is mind-boggling, because they were both incredibly toxic and spent half their lives arguing over whether Ross cheated on her. Why would anyone root for that?

It was always a mediocre show, but was so massively popular at the time that any criticism was quickly drowned out and brushed away. But now the hype has died down and people are more openly talking about the show’s flaws.
I personally thought it sucked back when it was new and have no interest in watching it now. I watched a handful of episodes as it had a syndication spot on my local networks, but just never got into it. (For the kids: Growing up on the East Coast, the dinner hours were generally news and 8-11 pm was “prime time” when new episodes of shows would air. In between shows would air reruns in syndication. So Friends was the filler I’d sometimes watch while waiting for the new shows to air.)

Your doctor just gave up and prescribed you antibiotics because you whined or they don’t care about antibiotic stewardship.
Bonus points if they gave you azithromycin (Zpak,) which does basically nothing for bacterial sinus infections but has slight anti inflammatory properties to enhance that placebo effect for you until the viral infection naturally clears.

80% of government “debt” is actually in the form of bonds. People voluntarily give the government more money than they’re required in taxes because they believe the government will be strong enough to pay them back interest later. The government does not have to pay down all that debt because the bonds are being cashed out at a predictable rate and people are buying new bonds all the time.
For example, someone in 1995 buys a series EE bond at $100. It’ll be worth roughly $200-215 now, which is 30 year maturation. But due to inflation, $100 in 1995 is worth $212 today. So even though the US government paid out over $100 in interest, due to inflation it was basically a wash, and they had 30 years to invest that money in infrastructure. So this “debt” was actually a good deal for the US government.
The short version is the government is fine as long as it can pay the interest on its loans without needing to print so much money to do so that it causes hyperinflation. You don’t have the ability to do that with your personal debt.

Hepatitis B takes 60-90 days to incubate. Because of the slow incubation, the vaccine works best if started within 24 hours of exposure, and can still work if administered up to 7 days after exposure. Newborns are typically exposed during birth, not while growing in the womb.
Compare to, say, the COVID-19, where the incubation is 2-14 days. The vaccine takes about 10-14 days to set in, so if you take it post-exposure in most cases you’ll be done with the actual infection before the vaccine even starts working.

The entire point of the vaccine is to prevent the virus. If you wait until you’ve been exposed to the virus, you’ve defeated the entire purpose of the vaccine.
