Finally a chance to share Mama’s Special Fried Rice.
Each day put your sink collections in a jar. Save in the fridge.
After a week, dump the collection in a bowl.
Add the following:
a pinch of salt and pepper.
one crushed clove or garlic.
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
1/2 tablespoon fresh grated ginger
In your wok, heat up 3 tablespoons of oil.
Add 2 cups cooked, room temperature rice.
Toss rice in wok until colour starts to change.
To the wok, Add 2-3 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon rice vinegar. Mix well.
Push rice to the side.
Add 2 tablespoons of oil and when up to temp add your sink collections from the bowl
Stir in the oil until the sink collections become cooked. Then stir together with the rice.
While hot, take entire contents of the wok and place in water tight, seal-able mason jar.
Bury mason jar in back yard.
Enjoy.

I use cloud storage.
At my company computer, I drop my backups to cloud if I forget my portable drive at home. At my home computer I pull those from cloud and store them on my home server.
That’s about as far as I trust cloud storage.

Geese are mostly harmless. They can give you a little pinch, but that’s about it. I never understood why people are afraid of them.
I was lucky enough to spend a couple of years around a flock and they’re really cool animals. They even remembered me when they returned in springtime. Geese are awesome.

I actually do hate linux as a desktop. It doesn’t suit my computer needs outside of maybe just browsing the web. I use Windows in my music studio and for video editing and I’m very happy with the software I’m using. I’m also extremely comfortable with it.
When I was in IT I used Linux all the time for servers though and had no complaints there.
I only like original Star Trek. I hated TNG and all the off-shoot shows.

It got shit results.

I only use Facebook for my business. Mostly just social posts about things which act as promotion. That said, I’m not seeing the results I saw a few years ago. Far fewer interactions on posts, almost no comments. I’m not sure it’s worth doing these days. We get more client contacts from our webpage than via facebook. We’re doing a ton more business these days than a few years ago, so I know it’s not coming from Facebook.
We have a business instagram account as well, but I use a third party to post to facebook/insta and it commonly has an issue posting to instagram. I have personal facebook and insta accounts but I never use them (expect to log into the business accounts). As a user, I can’t stand either of those platforms.
I don’t subscribe to any streaming service. Haven’t for over 3-4 years.
I do use youtube. I also have a business and a personal youtube account that are monitized so I throw videos up a few times a month.
I only use Amazon for my business and even then orders are rare. I try to order from Canadian vendors when possible.

They have two excuses.

Wind is pushing the planes/boats faster on the south side so they can cover more distance faster.
-
They (IE: NASA or the jews or whoever “they” are today) are lying to you on how long it takes to travel on the south side. It’s a cover up, man.

There is a game called Whispers from the Star which uses an LLM to run the script. It’s pretty much a fancy choose your own adventure book. It’s pretty shit.

All the teachers were deaf.
- Comment on How can I properly learn deaf sign languages? 1 year ago:
Deaf people LOVE when hearing folks try to communicate so they’ll do anything they can to help you out generally.
That is the exact opposite of what I experienced when I was learning ASL.
- Comment on How can I properly learn deaf sign languages? 1 year ago:
At one point in my life I had planned to learn ASL/English sign and work as an interpreter. I lived in an area on the west coast with a community college that had a huge deaf community and a very good ASL interpreter training program. I did almost two years (just short of completing) before bailing out.
Our classes were complete immersion from day one. No speaking or writing was allowed. Later classes, fingerspell was to be kept at a minimum. It was pretty cool but at times really frustrating. It’s easy to build your vocabulary of noun and verbs, but more abstract concepts were hard to understand in this setting.
Think of it this way. How does someone explain “abstract concept” with only gestures you don’t understand yet?
Why did I quit?
I’m a hearing person and the deaf community was generally pretty hostile towards hearing people in the program. One deaf woman went so far to say I was exploiting her disability. That’s kind of the vibe I got from many in the community. This was the main reason for leaving. I didn’t want a job where I worked with people who actively hated me for no reason.
The second reason; it was very hard to become fluent. I was getting pretty familiar with the local dialect (a blend of ASL and English). I was getting good at reading sign, but MY signs sucked. I just didn’t have people to “talk” with out of my class and they were all hearing people in the same boat as me.
You can pick up sign languages by watching videos over and over, but your pronunciation is probably going to suck without someone actively correcting you.

Why even lump pedos in the same sentence with the gays
That’s the new MAGA argument. I was getting in front of it.
They’re basically arguing if gay and trans people are born that way, and that’s fine, then pedos are born that way so why isn’t that fine?
It’s a stupid argument because gay and trans people by default exist without victims.
In my opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with being gay, bi, trans, asexual, etc.
- Comment on Are most people here left-wing? 1 year ago:
I’m Canadian. I support social programs and humanist programs. I support regulation of business so they don’t abuse their positions of power over people and to curb their habit of doing bad things in the name of more profit. I’m for taxing those with hordes of cash and giving the struggling worker a break. I support people to have the freedom to be who they want to be (gay, straight, trans, etc) as long as they aren’t hurting other people (IE pedos don’t get to harm children because they “were born that way” or god said it was cool). I support protecting the land, water and animals. I think Trump is a cunt.
I’m probably pretty left-wing.

I treat my yard as a natural meadow the best I can. I only mow once or twice a year and we’re slowly pushing out the grass previously planted. I dislike the look of a traditional boomer suburbia yard. I much prefer the wild look.
We don’t rake at all. I prefer to just let things do their thing and I’m also far too lazy to bother raking. We live in an area surrounded by woods.
We have snakes and foxes and hares that come out of the woods from time to time. A ton of birds. It’s perfect.

I lived most of my life in areas where fireflies were around, but they weren’t the bioluminescent type,
The house I moved to about 5 years ago is in the woods and 3 months out of the year these guys buzz around my front yard and I’ve even helped a few out of the house.
They never fail to bring a smile to my face.

I’ve always had a manual car. I love them. That is until I ended up dating a younger woman and we moved in together. Several years later the manual turned into the second car only I drove. That got sold and we now have two cars she can drive.
One day I might teach her how to drive manual. We live in a really flat area with no major hills, so it shouldn’t be a problem. One day maybe,

- Comment on I always suspected that these never actually cleaned anything 1 year ago:
The heads pick up dirt and over time the tapes shed on the play and record heads. It’s a dark brown mass that builds up. The thicker it is, the more it interferes with record/playback. Playback will sound muffled with a loss in the high end. Also, the buildup promotes the tapes shedding more doing damage over time. It usually comes off easy with a few light wipes with an alcohol dipped q-tip.
The only “trick” I’ve heard is you are supposed to only wipe off the tape head the way the tape runs across it. The idea being you don’t want to scratch the head which would then damage the tape. I don’t know if this was just folklore, but it seems logical.
I used to have a reel to reel Tascam 8 track that ran 1/2 tape in my studio. I was always careful to wipe only in the direction of the tape and I’d clean before each studio session. I never saw any build up on those heads.
