- Comment on Min wage in most states is so sad 2 days ago:
yeah i was a hell of a lot more sympathetic to that totally unverified supposition (not argument) when i didn’t believe there was rampant corruption in every branch of local state and federal government. it’s like those pictures of “LOOK WHAT COMMUNISM WOULD GET YOU” and it’s just pictures of homelessness under capitalism.
solution would be to raise the incomes of most Americans rather than to reduce the income of the legislators.
yeah that’s the point. if these chucklefucks kicking back on open corruption were forced (forced) to live on the average american salary they’d be more apt to fix the bullshit holding wages down. that’s my unverified supposition though. actually, now i’ve come to think of it, the fact that our government is subject to corruption despite their high compensation (supposedly) buoying up fragile moralities seems to be evidence against your initial supposition. Let’s try the other way.

The fields get the resume to my desk. The resume and cover letter get you an interview, and the interview gets the job offer.
why would anyone bother to write something you tacitly admit you arent going to read
- Comment on Moderator abuse: Request for review and removal of Decoy321@lemmy.world 3 weeks ago:
if the besieging hordes picture does not refer to the common right wing trope of invading muslim hordes, it missed a damn good chance. your own choice of definition included “absurd, provocative, or offensive.” what, in your view, was the “absurd, provocative, or offensive” nature of the post if it wasnt the apparent racism?
you accuse the moderator of a habitual abuse of power, not just in your case, but offer no evidence of this further claim. why not?

It’s only in their interest if you assume their interest is in governance. If that is not their interest, if they are actually interested in maintaining the status quo so they can keep insider trading from congress, then it makes sense for them to fight against the rising tide of progress.

he won by 1 percentage point, not 20, and that was the primary, not the actual race, and we have never seen this guy actually govern. don’t celebrate before the victory.

- Comment on New level of capitalist hell unlocked: Companies are relying on AI to pinpoint exactly how desperate job seekers are in the hopes they can pay them as little as possible. 5 weeks ago:
It’s worse than that. Companies buy credit card data and their salary offer is inversely proportional to how much debt you have. More debt = more desperation = lower offer.
On a completely unrelated note, did you know USA hasn’t passed a consumer privacy protection law since 1988? That law protected consumers from people gathering their information while renting VHS tapes.
