- Comment on Where did the conspiracy theory that America was behind 9/11? Was there any evidence to back up these claims (real evidence)? 10 hours ago:
One of the more convincing arguments I’ve seen isn’t necessarily that it was an inside job, rather that the people who could have prevented the disaster had motive to stand by and watch as it unfolded.
Lots of weird things in the years leading up to 9/11 don’t necessarily directly support this but they do add fuel to conspiracy theories…like the Project for the New American Century calling for a permanent US presence in the Middle East. Just a few years later and some of its signatories are handed the perfect casus belli allowing them to station troops in the Middle East.
Nothing concrete, just stuff that’s kinda weird enough for conspiracy theories.

Up and down the East Coast of the US, they’re known for hiding some of the absolute worst puppy mills. It used to be a big thing every time one of them got raided but you knew they were probably just going to set up shop elsewhere. If you saw an ad for golden retriever puppies way out in the countryside of Pennsylvania, you just knew they weren’t going to be treated well at all and probably have horrible health problems.

Is it difficult for new players to jump into Wurm Online at this point? I’ve always liked the idea of the game but never got around to giving it a solid try.

They used to, then they got caught and said they stopped…then it came out the founder still did it, then he died. His son and current owner probably still does? But then one of its locations recently celebrated a gay couple’s marriage and the national chain backed them up so who knows anymore.

True, you don’t really see many people named Jeeves anymore.

I wonder if it’ll function like Twitch where you can get tons of people banned all at once by getting them to say they’re under 13.

I dunno about you, but I’m not sure if I’d have invited Carl Sagan either…it’d take him ~13.8 billion years just to get dessert ready.

I think I understand the joke, but I’ve seen things from this point of view as well. Something happened during and after pandemic lockdowns that has led to absolutely unprecedented numbers of people going out and hiking what were previously really quiet trails. It was already tough maintaining them before, now you’ve got tons of people who don’t bother to know the norms or understood rules of the parks.
Several parks near me have had to institute an admittance/ticketing program with reservations made a month in advance just to enter the trailhead lot because they’re so overrun with people now. It’s great that people are outside and enjoying a public resource, but maybe it’s just a few too many people all at once?

Did I say King’s writing was satire? I said Jonathan Swift’s short story was satire.
As for King being in the Epstein files, do you have a source for this? I can’t seem to find it.

Jonathan Swift must have really wanted to cannibalize poor children!
I’ll never forget bringing that up in a classroom and realizing adults had no idea it was satire.

What’s crazy is how inconsistent the problems seem to be. I’ve got a 4080 Super and a decent processor, and I’m getting 120-140fps with most settings as high as they can go with frame gen on at 1440p. Only crashed once in about 40 hours of gameplay.

Usually if you’re learning Arabic for religious reasons, it’s going to be Modern Standard Arabic or MSA.

The problem with calling it a lie is it indicates an intent to deceive. Regardless of how true that is, it probably opens them up to lawsuits (or they’d be afraid of that happening). They could probably get away with calling them falsehoods but I’m not sure what the difference would really be between that and the way they already wrote things.

They have distinct blinking patterns as well. IIRC observing the pattern is one of the ways used to classify them.
