Life Is Strange
www.gog.com/fr/…/life_is_strange_complete_season
It’s not an action/combat game but there are violent parts in the story

I’d suggest Helldivers 2, Darktide or Vermintide 2, World War Z
I haven’t played Space Marines 2 (yet) but it’s definitely on our backlog with some friends
Dying Light is good fun too in coop

The first Witcher game is quite old but you could like the gameplay (it’s not action oriented, unlike the 2 following Witcher games)
It’s honestly not great looking but the story is great, and who knows, you might fall in love with a great franchise :)

I’ll second Dragon Age since it’s less action oriented than Mass Effect (which is great but OP seems pore interested in strategy/management than shooting)
Mass Effect has a “tactical pause” feature though, but it feels less Baldur-like :)

We’re never getting TES VI, right ?
- Comment on Jennifer Lawrence was quoted implying that The Hunger Games was the first female-led action movie ... today I want to introduce you to one of my favorite exceptions: The Long Kiss Goodnight. 2 weeks ago:
What about Underworld ?

Well, no offense but getting away from Apple should be a great first step to fossify your digital life :)

I just use emails with my friends who are on Whatsapp
One of them migrated from Gmail to Protonmail so maybe he could help move to a “non GAFAM” environment

The SpamBlocker I was refering to is on Android (f-droid), I’m not sure about iOS

I only used Discord with a bunch of friends I play with, no “official game servers” so it was pretty easy
The hard task will be to have some other non-gaming friends to join, because they use Whatsapp (which me and my gaming friends refuse to touch)

AntennaPod is a pretty great podcast player, far better than the one Google did (and abandonned)
Newsblur is the only RSS reader that I’ve found that can apply filters to feeds
I’ve switched from Discord to Element with some friends for daily text chat and vocal chat (video games) and it’s less cluttered than Discord, and the voice even sounds better
SpamBlocker is a better phone/SMS spam filter than the proprietary ones I’ve tried
Firefox (and forks) has been my browser for more than 20 years, I can’t go back to proprietary ones
- Comment on What's a cancelled game you really miss? 2 weeks ago:
Prey 2 : youtu.be/BPkHZfjK5z4
Some friends and I were so hooked on the gameplay demo (we’re big fans of the Mass Effect trilogy), then it was cancelled and replaced by Prey, which was very different (more horror centric and less space opera)
- Comment on 'Oh god': There's a buried Steam help page that shows how much money you've ever spent on the platform, and you may not want to know 2 weeks ago:
Less than 1000€ for dozens of games I’ve played, I think the average price I payed is 15€, so I don’t feel robbed
I mostly buy on GOG whenever possible though, even if it means I have to wait a year or two

Woops, typo
- Comment on That official Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remake will reportedly shadow-drop next week, finally putting us robe-wearing Patrick Stewarts out of our speculation misery 2 weeks ago:
I’ve played the original multiple times but barely touched the main story because I didn’t like the whole “gates to oblivion” aspect. The guilds and side quests were nice though.

Odyssey is more recent but Black Fag definitely has better storms

- Comment on Are there any games you don't play as it was intended to be played? If so, what game and how? 4 weeks ago:
I played stealth games like Hitman like a mass murderer.
I also play the “infiltrator” class in Mass Effect without tactical cloak. I mean it’s a mix of soldier and engineer, why should it be focused on stealth ?
- Comment on Let's discuss: Grand Theft Auto 5 weeks ago:
Maybe with a gamepad it’s fine, but with keyboard and mouse, moving on foot in GTA IV and V feels really bad, as if you’re pulling a trailer
- Comment on What are some old games that are hard to revisit, because a more modern and superior version exists? 5 weeks ago:
The Witcher, I hope the remake we’ll be good
The Witcher 2 is more than fine

Have they tried narrative games like the ones from Telltale, Dontnod, … ?
- Comment on Your all-time favorite game? Let's discuss the best options! 1 month ago:
The Witcher 3, followed by the Mass Effect trilogy (I consider it as a whole)
And honestly, Cyberpunk 2077 could complete the top 3
But if I have to consider multiplayer games, with 3000+ hours on Warframe (considering I haven’t touched it for years), I guess it could also be considered my favorite (I think I also spent 1000h on ME3 multi)
- Comment on Damage, Dodging, and Defence: POE2's early access got things backward 1 month ago:
If your kill things before they can hit you, defence is worthless
And that comes from a guy who almost always plays as a tank
Too few games now (from all I’ve been playing) care about tanking, one of the few exception I’ve seen is Warframe, because they crank up everything to 11 (DPS, crowd control, tanking, …)

I also shelved it 2 years ago after about 15h, but right now it feels fine with these mods (the pacing is still a bit slow but annoyingly slow)
- Comment on Weekly “What are you playing” Thread || Week of March 9th 1 month ago:
I gave another chance to Red Dead Redemption 2, it still feels like a chore simulator to me, but thanks to the mods to improve QoL, I can enjoy the main missions (which already take quite some time) without worrying about the rest
I don’t like how the game forces me to do missions in a certain way though
- Comment on Atomfall Hands-On Preview: Rebellion’s New IP is More Than Just British Fallout - WGB article 1 month ago:
I’d need to replay it (which I might this year) to point out specific parts, but I remember some dialogues/characters being a bit “childish”. I’m not talking “butt stallion” childish but different from the Fallout humour (and yes Fallout can be funny too)
I mean they could sell me this as a trailer for a Borderlands game : youtu.be/zNmjNA6dtEA
- Comment on Atomfall Hands-On Preview: Rebellion’s New IP is More Than Just British Fallout - WGB article 1 month ago:
Outer Worlds had the same issue, the Borderlands “humour” and bright colors didn’t mix with the “Fallout in space” overall theme
- Comment on Which co-op first person shooters would you recommend? 1 month ago:
- Shadow Warrior 2 (avalaible on GOG)
- Half-Life 2 has a mod for campaign coop (Synergy if I recall correctly)
- Lots of zombie games : Left4dead 2, Killing Floor 2, …
- Borderlands
First Person but not totally shooter :
- Dying Light / Dead Island
- Vermintide / Darktide
