Sorry, you’re right, I didn’t read the info box correctly.

You need Command & Conquer™ Remastered Collection on Steam for the game assets in order to play OpenRA.
Also, the appimage needs to be run as sudo, otherwise it crashes with a seg fault. - Comment on modern psychiatry be like 1 week ago:
I wasn’t even aware it came from latin, but that makes perfect sense. But it’s weird how it was considered bad up until this late in history, but it wasn’t until 1938 that someone patented the smudge-free ballpoint pen. I imagine that smudging with your left hand as you wrote must’ve been very irritating and wasteful for hundreds of years, and thus it became a sadistic ritual to “right wrongs”.
Here in Denmark we called that type of schooling “sorte skole” (black school, an expression from the mid 1500s, where schools were run by religious institutions, so perhaps it’s a reference to their clothing?), and it didn’t matter if you understood the subject or not, you just had to memorize it and do things correctly, even writing with ones right hand.Dictionary lookup on google translate

My grandmother told me stories about how she’d get whipped with a stick on the top of her hand if she tried using her left. Coercion never went away: conversion camps, behavioural therapy etc.
- Comment on Your body after losing an online game 1 week ago:
It’s referencing a coping mechanism when you lose in team-based multiplayer games to blame other team-mates instead of looking inward and accepting you might be the problem.
“GG” is short for good game, it’s basically the polite online equivalent to a handshake after a sports match, or any competition really.
“No heals” is the blaming of ones team for not helping out, in this case healing which is often done by a designated healer class which a player can pick in the game. Purpose of this class is replenishing health points to other fellow team members, something which is needed to give the team a better chance of winning as the opposing team is trying to kill you.
So logically, if the healing is either bad or lacking, one could surmise that “no heals” is a valid criticism, but “it takes two to tango” as the saying goes, and if you run away from the healer, out of their range or too far into enemy territory that the healer can’t help you without dying themself, then the problem isn’t the healer - it’s you. - Comment on Anon experiences freedom 2 weeks ago:

To be fair, not a lot going on needing a bigger brain 1+km below the water surface where this creature hangs out. Also, apparently it’s ass as in donkey, not the other kind.

I’ve never really wanted to use lutris and haven’t had a use case for it, but seeing it supporting emulation I’m starting to see it’s upsides.

Omg, this is huge! The “Voices of Vvardenfell” and “Tamriel Rebuilt Voices” projects are morally questionable as they use AI generated voices trained on the very little voice acting in morrowind without permission from the actors, but it certainly does bring a lot of life to a 22 year old game like Morrowind. And with 0.49 it’ll finally be possible with the proper LUA scripting support, which is great for non-windows gamers.

stop warming up vegetable soup in tin dishes on an electric top
Maybe it’s outdated information, but I thought heating food directly in the tin/can was bad because of the lining melting into the food.

- Comment on What's your "this is totally fine and I'm going to have a great time" FPS? 3 weeks ago:
Maybe it’s because I grew up with 60hz CRT monitors in the 90s, the ones that’d give you a headache if you sat in front of them for too long 😅 Or maybe you just get so used to 144 fps once you make the switch that it’s impossible to go back.
GOW running at 40’ish fps as you say even at ultra must mean they cared to make a good game. I ought to give it a go just for the “Boy” meme. - Comment on A pirate's life 3 weeks ago:
And if you want to up your game a little, there’s Jackett and/or Prowlarr, there’s even an official guide on how to set up jackett to work as a search engine within qbittorrent.
- Comment on What's your "this is totally fine and I'm going to have a great time" FPS? 3 weeks ago:
There’s a reason I only upgrade to 2k monitor and not 4k, I’m not willing to sacrifice that much performance to just play at a higher resolution, 25 fps is way too low for me. 108 fps is what I play Fallout New Vegas at and I think that’s fine. I think I’ve gone down to 90 and been somewhat ok with that, but anything below that is no bueno.
Non-fps games I’ll cap lower, like 72 fps for a civilization game is perfectly fine.
But if you want beautiful games like God of War (or do you mean gears of war?) and are fine with a lower framerate, that makes sense to me. - Comment on Not the same 3 weeks ago:
I was thinking so as well. Mostly because of the left pupil not looking like the right pupil, but also the style. The style of shadow below the chalkboard looks like a really odd choice.

- Comment on Does Aphantasia exist for senses other than vision? 4 weeks ago:
Who was the lady that was deaf and blind, and famously overcame those?
Might be Helen Keller, very famous deafblind activist. A quote from wikipedia kind of shows how hard communicating when senses are limited:
The next month, Keller made a breakthrough, when she realized that the motions her teacher was making on the palm of her hand, while running cool water over her other hand, symbolized the idea of “water”. Writing in her autobiography, The Story of My Life, Keller recalled the moment:
I stood still, my whole attention fixed upon the motions of her fingers. Suddenly I felt a misty consciousness as of something forgotten—a thrill of returning thought; and somehow the mystery of language was revealed to me. I knew then that w-a-t-e-r meant the wonderful cool something that was flowing over my hand. The living word awakened my soul, gave it light, hope, set it free!
- Comment on Does Aphantasia exist for senses other than vision? 4 weeks ago:
Just last week I was looking up ADHD and autism in blind people, but I was also questioning whether blind people could have aphantasia. Or rather, how does blind people perceive roundness or a circle in their mind? They know what it feels like at least, so is it tied to some other sense? I’m guessing blind people have a way of mapping out surroundings and 3D space, but explaining how a person thinks about it is as hard to describe as whether two people perceive the same colours the same way.

I began using SMPlayer, which uses MPV, and yeah, it was confusing having to mess around in %localappdata%. But unironically, having to do so kinda prepared me for the switch to linux, what with getting used to using the filesystem.

Took me a little while to figure out where to put the .ipk3 file (easiest is ~/.config/gzdoom) but otherwise easy enough to get going using the flatpak. Installing the regular gamefiles + spear of destiny (from my GOG version) was also pretty easy, but I wonder where one can get Return to Danger and Ultimate Challenge 🤔
Either way, good shout, plays excellently, although seems like hitting enemies is harder in this version than the original, at least when they’re far away.
