- Comment on Is looksmaxxing legit? 2 weeks ago:
No; it’s essentially Eugenics for incels, assuming you could determine your “value” by measuring your face, and by working on it having more luck with woman. You pay some looksmaxxer with a broccoli haircut to insult your face, which is something you can get for free anywhere else on the internet. I assume the end goal is that everyone looks the same, so the inner values are finally important again.
This is a terrible idea, because it assumes you are only lonely because of looks, and by changing your looks you are suddenly popular. In reality, the people who date others just for their looks are horrible human beings, and will leave you soon for someone younger, or with more money or are just insufferable to be around if you move together.
I assume you look into it because you are lonely and insecure about yourself. This is normal for young people, but it gets easier as you get older. There are some good tips in here already, but here is what worked for me:
Find some hobby you can do outside with other people, and check your local meetup groups whats popular in your area. Anything that gets you away from a screen and spend time with real people, and maybe learn some new skills or get fit, like cycling, hiking, rock climbing, diving, flying gliders, cooking, maybe dancing. You don’t have to be there to be good at it or find a new hobby to sink all your time and money into, you just go there to meet people and have real interactions with them, and get away from toxic social media. If you find a find a girl you like, you must be a good friend first: be clean, dress well, smell nice, say nice things to her, listen to her, bring her food, be there if she needs help, talk about things you have in common - for example the hobby where you meet.
I used to live in a big city sharing the flat with other people. While dating your roommate sounds like a good idea and shortcut to regular sex, it might backfire if you break up, or she finds another friend. It’s much better to find out if she has single friends, and if you have skills she recognizes (cooking, fixing things around the house, interesting hobbys) she might introduce them to you.

- Comment on Is there a science educator who shows in a video how they hand wash dishes? 3 months ago:
To hand wash dishes, fill the sink with some water and a bit soap. Then take one dish, clean in the sink, wash, rinse with some warm fresh water, put it away to dry. Start cleaning the the non greasy dishes like glasses, coffee cups, then move on to the dirtier and greasy dishes. Empty the sink if the water gets to dirty. For dirty dishes you need hot water to get them clean, otherwise the grease won’t disolve. Leave the dishes out to air dry for 1 to 2h, but must cutlery must be hand dried otherwise you might get spots on them.

I think the difference is that they where build to be repairable. Back in the 70s and 80s a large screen tv was a status symbol, and a top end model could cost multiple months of salary and last 10 years or more.

- Comment on A cool feature/mechanic you want to see in games again 4 months ago:
No, it was more a turn based game with npcs, and you had to extract people, kill targets, or return objects from the map. By strategically placing mines on windows or doors you could take out enemies, and remove cover for other enemies, or accidentally start a chain reaction that would blow up other barrels nearby.
The downside was that the game was terrible slow, with what feels like 5seconds per npc to make a turn (even when they where not revealed yet), which is annoying with sometimes 20 npcs per map, who can take sometimes multiple rounds to finish if you are unlucky and miss. And any explosion that would destroy the environment would also bring even modern PCs to a grinding halt. The game was from 2003, but only runs on a single core.

Destructible environments like in silent storm. You could remove walls and floors with grenades or mines. Unfortunately it was a bit buggy and slow. Teardown is fun, but it feels like a tech demo.
