There is a huge diversity of plastics being produced today and each one will require a unique evolutionary adaptation to be biodegraded. We’re also continuously developing new plastics and new combinations of plastics such as core-shell polymers. You also had much more wood available than you have plastic scattered across the earth, meaning much more energy available for any microorganisms that evolved to degrade wood and thus a greater evolutionary advantage. I don’t think microbes are going to save us from the plastic scourge anytime soon.

Hyundai announced they don’t expect to release solid-state EVs until 2030, but their solid-state plant has been operational for a bit now and they’re filing full-scale solid-state production patents already. It’s going to be a real race to the finish.

Adam’s ale (also referred to as Adam’s wine, especially in Scotland; sometimes simply called Adam) is a colloquial allusion meaning water. It alludes to the idea that the biblical Adam had only water to drink. This inference gained popularity around the beginning of the 19th-century temperance movement.

- Comment on 'OLED and LCD will die out’: A microLED expert explains how the superior TV tech will finally become affordable 3 months ago:
µLED doesn’t experience any burn in, lasts decades, has perfect blacks and can reach higher brightness than you would ever want to look directly at. If they can get them to where OLEDs are now in terms of price they’ll take over the market.

Lead 204 is entirely primordial and the other isotopes found on earth would be found at roughly the same concentration were all of the lead on earth primordial. It’s the excess ratios of the other isotopes of lead that can be attributed to radioactive decay. That is a substantial proportion of the lead on earth, but to say the “existence of lead” is proof of the age of the earth is entirely incorrect.

Have you checked your sacrificial anode? If it’s gone, this will keep happening.

If there’s one job I think AI could definitely replace, it’s crafting reports by investment bankers.
