Yea, reading my message back I was unnecessarily harsh. But my math checks out.
Sorry, I had a bad day…
- Comment on Have you said Thank You once? 2 weeks ago:
Yes. If you fail to market your ideas in that time then it’s your fault. Don’t hold back society due to your failure.
Your system makes even ideas capital which I strongly object to.
Another point of view: A company like Disney should not be able to have an almost perpetual monopoly on highly influential culture, like Star wars, etc.
- Comment on Virgin Physicists 2 weeks ago:
No, correctly it would be n * (n-1) * (n-2) * … * 3 * 2* 1
Or the actual recursive definition
1! = 1
n! = (n-1)! * n

Fuck intellectual property in it’s current state. As it is now it mostly benefits corporations instead of small creators anyways.
Terms of protection should be shorter. Way shorter than the life of the author + x years.
- Comment on Virgin Physicists 2 weeks ago:
Erm. In what world do you live that the precedent in your expression is right?
In all languages and countries I know multiplication binds more strongly than addition. So what you wrote would be
n^2 - n - 2n - 3n…

I’ve heard a lot of “it is what it is” in my time in Finland. I am probably returning soon for wappu/vappu.
- Comment on Javascript/Linux is what I call it 2 weeks ago:
Nope the driver through the web USB API and/or the WebHID api. Of course it depends on how you define driver but I think they have a very good claim to be drivers.
- Comment on Javascript/Linux is what I call it 2 weeks ago:
There are drivers for USB products written in JavaScript. Like the calibration tool for the PS5 controller and iirc a driver for a mini disk player

I’ve got good news for you: Storage is now unbelievably cheap compared to just a few years ago.
I’ve forgotten what deleting a file even means.
Years ago when I started ripping CDs people called me an idiot for not using MP3 instead of flac. They aren’t laughing now. I fully admit that MP3 can be transparent at high bitrates and modern codecs even more so but that’s for the end device (like my car or phone) not archival.
The same will be true with my Blu Ray collection stored as decrypted ISO files… I hope.

You seem to be implying an argument based on Modus tollens:
- If AI is the chief US innovation, then the US is massively fucked.
- The US is not massively fucked.
- Ergo, AI is not the chief US innovation.
Well I disagree with the premise 2:
The US is massively fucked.
With that, no conclusion can be gained from premise 1.

Bias will always remain. I mean what would it even mean to be absolutely unbiased.
There is no such thing as an unbiased text corpus.

A set of propositional formulas is satisfiable if and only if all finite subsets of it are satisfiable.
The cardinality of a set is always smaller than the cardinality of the set of subsets of the former set.
A set cannot contain itself.
There is no 1 to 1 mapping from the natural numbers to the real numbers.
There is a 1 to 1 mapping from the natural numbers to the rational numbers.
Something exists. I cannot tell you what it is but it does exist. Maybe reality is an illusion but even then the illusion exists.

That is a reason why most farmers like to purchase seeds every season anyways. It’s way more predictable and you may want to change the strain depending on many variables.
Farming, especially commodity crops like wheat, is an extremely risky business. Taking out some risk is often worth it.
Modern farming is way more complicated and scientific than most people realize. The portrayal of farmers as bumbling idiots in popular media is not helping.

When I was in school many notebooks came with a loose sheet to absorb the ink from our fountain pens. These are called “Löschpapier” (extinguishing paper).
A common joke was, to say you should toss the “Löschpapier” into a fire to extinguish it.
I tried it once. It burned quite well unfortunately.

I’ve seen long compound words in children’s book recently. Could be real.
Some kids get hyper fixated on cool stuff like firefighters, cars, dinosaurs,… and love learning new words in that topic even or especially if they are complicated.
Sometimes those little brains can do a lot more than many give them credit for.
