A mocha pot? But then I’d still have to buy coffee beans, which are a luxury, right? Not buying a mocha pot means you don’t have to buy coffe either, thus saving even more money.
And that could go for all luxuries, to the point that life is just working to be able to work.
And none of this would be necessary if wages were higher overall, and there was a good social safety net.
Tell people to tax the rich, instead of telling people to forego their pleasures.

Why though? Why not just give yourself up, and prevent your friends from getting guiltridden in the process?
Sounds like a bad friend to me.

I was joking, though. There are actually people who wear sandwich boards with religious messages on them, specifically to fulfil they call to proselytise.
They often stand near shops.
I almost respect people who really try to talk to me more for actually fulfilling the spirit of it, rather than the letter.
- Comment on That's a good question 1 week ago:
It’s a bit like being told to go out into the world and tell everyone about your religion, and you do it by taping a cardboard sheet to your front and back with “Jesus is Lord” written on it.

The beginning, in some cases.

Not that weird, considering they already had that in the original movie. Frog DNA.

From the Wikipedia page.

It isn’t, really. It has funny moments, but on the whole it’s an action adventure film, and a very good one at that.

They even mention it in the article, seemingly without any awareness of the irony.

I can, but only when it makes sense.
It made sense for Dune, where the story is too vast to tell in one movie of reasonable length. Lawrence of Arabia proved that it is possible, but also that it’s not easy.
This was a stage production, which you watch in one sitting, with intermission, more than likely.
In this adaptation, that intermission will be longer than half an hour. Way longer.
I have no hope that it will turn out to be a good adaptation.

Because low effort horror producers are the first to need a “new” idea, and expired or public domain properties are the easiest way to get them.

- Comment on Actor Chris Pratt produces faith-based film about military chaplains 7 months ago:
Faith-based has been another word for films with a religious emphasis for a long time now.
And pointing out that he’s a Christian is par for the course on Christian websites, and relevant, since the film is religious, and readers may wonder why he’s making one.
Not that it’s been an obscure fact that he’s Christian. He’s ben very open about it.

It’s a Christian site. What kind of spin would they put on that headline?

Nah, I was just quoting one of the most memorable lines from the movie.
It was fun, but definitely not a good movie.

But that’s what happened here. The x-axis has been unevenly distributed.
- Comment on Lord of the Rings Characters: Screen Time vs. Mentions in the Books 9 months ago:
A mention is not the same as an appearance, so the discrepancy for some characters could be even greater of you take that into account.

I’m more surprised by them referring to it as the fourth instalment at all.
This movie is supposedly a reboot, so not part of the same storyline as the previous three.
Yet, that is what those words seem to communicate.
Marketing? Sloppy writing?
- Comment on 31 years ago, Jurassic Park was released 1 year ago:
Having read it again not too long ago, I was actually surprised by how much of it was not good.
The framework was interesting, but much of the actual writing wasn’t nearly as good as I had thought.
Maybe it’s because I had read it in a Dutch translation the first couple of times, and the translator had had improved the prose without intending to, or maybe it’s because it was many years ago.
Whatever the reason, I felt like it needed another pass of the editor.
The movie, on the other hand, still thrills me every time I see it.
