The idea that the world can be fixed and I won’t need to sacrifice a thing is a little too good to be true
On one hand I don’t think people are saying that. On the other hand, there are some radical views here on Lemmy.
Sure, maybe others will need to make more changes than me, and I’m certainly not gonna let them off the hook, but I’m not gonna let myself off the hook either, and anyone who tells me I can is selling me something.
I am 100% with you here.

I hope big oil is paying you well for propagating their “personal carbon-footprint”-narrative.
What do do you say? They don’t even pay you? … Then why are you doing it?

Plenty of examples of landlords being assholes and procrastinating or outright refusing to repair essential things
happened to me a couple years ago. The solution was a friendly-worded letter, notifying them that we will not pay any rent until the thing is fixed, and informing them about related court decisions. (this was in germany, your laws may differ)

if you hated the movie, i understand leaving as fast as possible. but if you liked the movie? won’t you stay there a little longer, think about the movie, let it think in, spend some time in the mindset of the movie before returning to everyday life?

A SAML token verification can be implemented correctly in under 50 lines of code
I have seen multiple implementations of SAML logins, and I have never seen one with less than 500 LoC, and mutliple layers of complexity.
On the other hand I have migrated some (1 i did myself, 2 i just witnessed) of these SAML logins to oauth, and then it became actually 50 LoC.

“Social Engineering” is a well known attack vector in cyber security. I can recommend “The Art of Deception” by Kevin Mitnick (or just read his wikipedia page, it’s wild).

And that -1/12 bs is why I cannot math.
it’s not actually math. It’s people coming up with alternative definitions and then feeling smug when their alternative definitions give weird results.

can confirm, and would like to add:
- it helps a lot to understand the org and the internal politics. (this is simpler as it sounds. just be generally nice to people and try to understand what they want, and what their actual position in the org are. Then think about what your actual position in the org is, and where it could be. The most important question is: What does my boss’s boss think what value I produce for him?)

Yes, they did fire in all directions and some of there jokes did not age well. What is your point? Are you suggesting that they are evil because they were not 100% correct all the time?
(also iirc for that specific episode they did a correction 10 years later. )

the isnt even a correlation in that graph. e.g. if you look that crime peak in 2023, there is absolutely no correlating peak or drop in the twitter posts.
