What recipe where you’re cooking can you change ingredients by such extreme amounts?
some examples:
- chilli has lots of leeway in the amount of chillis, beans and meat, and seasoning.
- when I make potatoes with sauce and meat, I can add 50% potatoes and reduce meat by 50% and it’s still good (albeit less meat).
- frenchfries with very little salt is good
Pasta bolognese or lasagne with 2x as much meat and a quarter as much pasta would be all wrong
80% meat lasagna sounds awesome.
Balance the amount of butter with the amount of flour?
That is something that needs to balanced, but even then I am ±20% i guess.
When you cook rice, do you experiment with different amounts of water?
Rice is the one thing that needs exact measuring for water.
Or do you just cook it until it’s cooked?
I know someone who cooks rice like pasta, i.e. with lots of water, and in the end uses a sieve for the access water. I may be crazy, but I am not that crazy.

On one hand I don’t think people are saying that. On the other hand, there are some radical views here on Lemmy.
Sure, maybe others will need to make more changes than me, and I’m certainly not gonna let them off the hook, but I’m not gonna let myself off the hook either, and anyone who tells me I can is selling me something.

Plenty of examples of landlords being assholes and procrastinating or outright refusing to repair essential things
happened to me a couple years ago. The solution was a friendly-worded letter, notifying them that we will not pay any rent until the thing is fixed, and informing them about related court decisions. (this was in germany, your laws may differ)

A SAML token verification can be implemented correctly in under 50 lines of code
I have seen multiple implementations of SAML logins, and I have never seen one with less than 500 LoC, and mutliple layers of complexity.
On the other hand I have migrated some (1 i did myself, 2 i just witnessed) of these SAML logins to oauth, and then it became actually 50 LoC.

can confirm, and would like to add:
- it helps a lot to understand the org and the internal politics. (this is simpler as it sounds. just be generally nice to people and try to understand what they want, and what their actual position in the org are. Then think about what your actual position in the org is, and where it could be. The most important question is: What does my boss’s boss think what value I produce for him?)
