Ghandi was partly successful because of the British governments violence towards thier peaceful protests.

- Comment on Why don’t more people start profit-sharing companies or co-ops? 1 week ago:
Even for software there’s still equipment needed to host it, whether that be your own or rented from AWS or Azure etc. unless you’re looking to sell it as an on prem solution(but that’s not what most customers will be expecting in the current year so probably won’t sell very well).

Have you used a volume knob, an ipod, bmw idrive or its clones? Spin dials still are the peak of economic design…
Removal of physical dials in cars is one really good example of progress in tech causing worse design for the sake of cost savings and aesthetics.
- Comment on Why don’t more people start profit-sharing companies or co-ops? 1 week ago:
They tend to get out competed by companies with enough investment funds to undercut them without making a profit until they have a stranglehold on the market and can jack up prices.

Maybe in the form of rain water from your leaky roof 😅

I don’t love the pizza fart variable naming convention, but it’s better than foobar and I don’t have a better suggestion 😅

Surprisingly still not actually that expensive to do per GW compared to the costs of other generation technologies, except that you kinda have to need GW, rather than just KW or MW.

- Comment on PSA: Jury Nullification 2 weeks ago:
My prediction: jury nullification won’t end up being used in the assassins case, but that part about the judge being able to overrule a guilty verdict will be used if Trump ever gets taken to court…

- Comment on Are there any actual free programs that clean up all bloat ware on a new laptop? Without them putting hidden stuff in? 2 weeks ago:
What OS would be helpful.
What other OS comes pre-installed with bloatware? I guess maybe chromeos?

Much better than those people that send 10 messages one after the other as they think of each thought, and your smartwatch is left vibrating for the next minute 😅

It’s probably because your shoes are too pointy. We should all stop wearing pointy shoes, we aren’t fooling anyone, we don’t ride horses everywhere…

I think most electric kettles are a bit slower there due to normal outlets only being 110V, but not all kitchens have 20A outlets(probably most do nowadays?), so the kettles made for the USA market tend to be 1.6KW so they can run off a 15A outlet if needed, whereas ones made in the UK tend to be 2KW.

It’s a thing in New Zealand, where they actually cook in the geothermal springs, done traditionally by Maori in the area that has geothermal activity(they also dig a hole sometimes, not sure if that depends on the tribe or just what they’re cooking). Apparently there’s a restaurant that does it too: whakarewarewa.com/experiences-traditional-food/
I haven’t tried it so can’t speak to the flavor, but Id imagine it would be somewhat sulphour flavoured, which doesn’t seem appealing, maybe it’s an acquired taste?

Maybe instead of updating the public rules could use a checklist system to help reduce the cognitive load of moderating: like checking if the url is a reputable source such as the verge, and check for keywords like valve software for if it’s relevant to gaming.
