It would matter in the sense that the time you’d have to wait for a vacant room is between 0 and infinity.
Actually, the time you’d have to wait would be proportional to (rooms / demand), and since both are infinite, that’s undefined. You’d be waiting for undefined time, which IMO is worse than waiting infinite time!
- Comment on Infinite Hotel Paradox 2 days ago:
But there’s also infinite demand for rooms, otherwise the hotel would have long gone bankrupt.

Heard a comedian say the other day that hair implants is a form of gender affirming care for cis guys :)
- Comment on [deleted] 3 days ago:
I understand that and agree, but in the case of many trans people, they go after medical procedures that go beyond plastic surgery. So I don’t think it’s perfectly comparable with being gay
- Comment on [deleted] 3 days ago:
Sorry, but I have an honest question. Isn’t gender disphoria a mental issue? And isn’t it addressed with medical procedures? I don’t understand the consequences of transmedicalism.

I’m afraid that the whole discussion is so polarize at the moment that it is hindering progress. On one hand, conservative people want to completely ban hormone therapy and puberty blockers. On the other hand, progressive people want to ban the pathologizarion of gender affirmation. There a huge lack of nuance in the discourse.

- Comment on What's the difference between a hostage and a prisoner? 5 days ago:
Losely speaking, prisionaires are people who committed crimes, while hostages are innocent civilians. I’ve no idea if that accurately describes the situation here, I’m just answering your question.

How about placing your laptop in an uncomfortable place? Mount it on the wall so that it’s usable but unpractical to use it for more than a few minutes? I don’t think the problem you describe can be solved with a specific computer.

They can still show some old results, but reddit only allows Google to crawl reddit. Part of their AI deal.
- Comment on Reddit Blames Google Algorithm Changes For Not Hitting User Growth. 1 week ago:
Maybe they shouldn’t have given exclusive access to Google. Bing and all Bing-based engines stopped being able to show Reddit results. So now Google has a monopoly on reddit results. Reddit is just learning the shitty effect of monopolies and it serves them right.

Reminds me of this copypasta (there are many forms of this, this particular one I copied from here)
Why should you buy roses for the woman you care about? I can’t really think of a logical reason. First of all, roses only live for a couple weeks at most, and that’s if you leave them in water. They really only exist to sit there and look nice. That’s basically like telling her: “My love for you is transitory and based solely on your appearance”.
But a potato! Potatoes last for fucking ever. In fact, not only will they not rot but eventually they’ll actually start to grow shit, even if you just leave them in the sack. That part alone makes them a good symbol. That’s more like saying: “My love for you substantiates itself and effortlessly grows forever and ever”.
Wait, there’s more! There are so many ways to enjoy a potato. You can make french fries, sweet potato fries, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, and if you draw a face on it you’ll have your own custom-made Mr. Potatohead. The best part is, you can even make a battery with it! So really, giving a potato is like saying: “I have many ways in which I show my love for you”.
Now you may be thinking, “BUT POTATOES ARE SO UGLY!”. Well, you’re right, but they’re still awesome and that’s the best part. Because by giving a potato, what you’re really saying is, “Honey, it doesn’t matter at all what you look like, I’ll still love you”.
So the next time you want to go and pick up your woman some flowers, buy a potato instead. > She’ll be thrilled.
- Comment on How did people end-up agreeing on the name of rivers/mountains and seas ? 1 week ago:
Lookup the East Sea, aka Sea of Japan. Or the Tagus river, aka Tejo river. There’s plenty other examples I can’t remember now. People don’t always agree on what to call things that cross borders. Usually we just agree to disagree as there’s no point arguing.

- Comment on What do you think of anarchism? 2 weeks ago:
Uhm, no? For most of humanity, we were in patriarcal tribes. That’s not the same as anarchy. And the moment settlements grew, there was typically some kind of hierarchy in place, some chief.

Veganism is not return to nature. Quite the opposite. And it’s definitely not a return to the past. Veganism is a modern view of society where we look at the possibilities we have today, granted to us by technology and science, and decide to spare the lives of animals. We have a surplus of food and supplements that makes meat consumption less healthy, efficient and ethical than plant based. It’s was virtually impossible to do be 100% plant based 100 years ago in full health.
