- Comment on Uh. So how are the Maplin's in your area doing? 1 week ago:
Every single Maplin store in the country closed down nearly 7 years ago
- Comment on Palworld removes Pal Sphere summons amidst lawsuit over Nintendo patents 1 week ago:
What about a pal boomerang? The retrieval would make more sense too.
- Comment on What was going on in England in the 1970s to give Monty Python so much comedy fodder that is still relevant today? 2 weeks ago:
Love seeing foreign people attempt to explain the culture of a country they’ve never been to.
- Comment on Typhoo Tea falls into adminstration 3 weeks ago:
Other countries use half a kilo of sugar instead of milk. I’ll stick to English tea thanks.
- Comment on Is there any proof behind the idea that "reddit is filled with bots"? 3 weeks ago:
ChatGPT bots are in most popular threads. It’s really obvious once you’ve seen a couple of them. They usually leave some generic comment that essentially just repeats what’s in the title or describes the picture with a vague emotion attached.
For example on a photo of a cat wearing socks the ChatGPT comments will be something like “It’s so cute how the cat is wearing socks! Cats are not normally meant to wear socks!”
- Comment on Over £1 billion to boost bus services across the country as bus fares capped at £3. 1 month ago:
I don’t know how people can rely on trains for a commute without getting sacked. Do they have to catch the train 1-2 hours earlier than they should need to?
- Comment on Anon thinks it's too late 1 month ago:
Yeah social media just adds so much undue pressure, especially the non-anonymous ones.
People are constantly seeing perfectly filtered and perfectly arranged photos of influencers apparently enjoying the perfect life and then comparing their own reality and feeling inadequate.
The FOMO pressure to be always available and seek validation via DMs, comments and likes.
The bombardment of political slop and seeing the opinions of every single fucker in the world and a few million bots about some mundane shit is bad for your mood.
- Comment on Is Lemmy an effective alternative to Reddit? 2 months ago:
Yeah all of my hobbies are ghost towns here. I don’t care about Linux, US politics or Communism so I filtered them out. Now all that’s that’s left is general interest posts and AI generated porn.
- Comment on Currently downloading The Witcher 3 for the first time. Got any advice for me? 2 months ago:
I only save scummed the Gwent tournament as it’s a one-shot type deal. The rest of the game there was no need as it autosaves frequently
- Comment on [Tom Warren] The PS5 Pro still hasn’t sold out in the US or UK. Looks like the $700 price point will mean this console will be readily available this holiday 2 months ago:
Boy that’s a lot of work just to play some old crap from more than 30 years ago
- Comment on NHS must reform or die, PM warns, after critical report 3 months ago:
That was the old government. We had an election recently and now we have the other party in charge who…

… are continuing to do the same thing as the old government while blaming them for it.

I always get to the part with nuclear power, then I take a look at the space elevator objective recipes, realise I need to multiply my factory size by about 20 and just nope out
- Comment on Let's discuss: Deus Ex 5 months ago:
I only played the two “new” ones. They were both good, fairly interesting, but not amazing. It’s hard to say, but it just felt like something was missing from them. Maybe it was a lack of things to do between missions beyond finding my way into a few random apartments for no real reason?
Out of the two human revolution was a bit better but there wasn’t much between them.
I still would have played the next one if it hadn’t been cancelled sadly.
- Comment on Government tells Britons to stockpile as part of emergency planning 6 months ago:
Generally you don’t buy this all in one go. The idea is to buy one or two extra things per week and build the stockpile slowly.
- Comment on Anon encounters a Switch owner 8 months ago:
What was even original about the glider? Gliding / parachuting mechanics have been around forever. Just Cause had them ages ago. Even Spyro games in the 90’s had them.
- Comment on How to keep carpet clean? 11 months ago:
I disagree with cordless Dysons. We have the V8 Animal and it’s pretty pathetic. It struggles to pick up anything denser than dust and the very smallest of crumbs. Most of the time we have to get out the old corded one to finish what the cordless couldn’t. I think brands like Shark and Vax are supposed to be better but I’ve not tried them.
