That’s not gaming anymore than people buying toys, leaving them in their boxes as an “investment” are into playing with toys.
Meanwhile the rest of us are buying games, playing them, enjoying them, moving on to other games and so on.

I don’t know, the first one was cobbled up together from early access by programmers at a marketing firm and while janky (part of the charm some would say), it was quite an achievement.
The approach which should have delivered better results was wrecked with takeovers and company drama then dumped to the public in a bad state.

Such a tragedy. And that was a game that just needed a tech upgrade, expand a bit, more of the same, nothing crazy.

- Comment on What the fuck happened to YouTube!? 3 months ago:
The link between conspiracies and ads is way stronger than that. The ad industry really went into high gear following WWII when the people working on pumping out propaganda to drive their own side of the war stepped up the game by applying psychology, new media, and a bigger budget.
Those people and techniques then moved to the commercial market when the war ended and applied their trade to peddle us the crap their customers wanted to sell. Make us feel bad if we don’t buy product X and go on an endless consumption treadmill to try to feel good and adequate about ourselves.
It is despicable and even worse with ads targeting children.

Marvel superhero movies often don’t take themselves seriously to a fault.
But it’s a perfect fit for Deadpool.

James Wan needs to drop the smelly fish superhero and come back to direct bonkers horror movies. I want more ridiculous pseudo-Gallio that suddenly turns into a wire-fu action flick.
M’three’gan hit some of the notes at times but took itself a bit too seriously at times.

And let’s not forget about the guy who made the Seinfeld show what it was had an amazing run with his own show Curb your enthusiasm.
Not quite as spicy as Always Sunny but certainly had more punch that Seinfeld.
The common thread is it is hilarious to make the terrible people the butts of the jokes, not the minorities. It also helps running with some aspects as a joke (Mack’s closeted gay in Sunny) and having them pay out emotionaly.
Being gay is not the joke like before “PC”, the repression of it, the forced toxic masculinity is. But I guess that’s a bit harder than kicking down so some conservative comedies are just crying they can’t just do it like before.
Since when was comedy, especially edgy comedy, about doing the same thing as before? What happened to pushing the envelope?
Who wants the hear the same tired old jokes? Innovate or make space for new voices.

I’m old enough to have watched it as a kid. I had read the novel with a friend sharing his book and reading it together.
Both where awesome. I distinctively remember hearing a baby crying in the theater and thinking about those stupid parents.

Furiosa also has some absolutely bonker stunts. Furry Road was going to make the pole boys using CGI but the stunt team told Miller they could do it for real. Furiosa has a bunch of insane motorcycle stuff, aerial stuff, and trucks climbing steep hills, many of them probably too dangerous to do with people.

Trailers have long been known to use shots that didn’t quite have the final VFX work.
- Comment on VFX artist explains why CGI in films is worse now 5 months ago:
I’ve heard it had a small budget. For some reason, I had in mind $35 million and the result was impressive for that budget. Turns out it was $15 million!
Great movie overall elevated even more with fantastic VFX work to boot. Reminds me of old classics like Terminator 1 with a then unproven director James Cameron flexing his VFX background to achieve his big vision on screen stretching a relatively small budget (albeit T1 had his budget increased during production).

Yep, even Dune 1 had proto RTS elements mixed in with the more classic adventure stuff. The sequel really cemented the traditional RTS fundamentals.

With a big image from the Dune universe on the title. Now Dune Total War would be interesting. It also happens to be the IP that was used for the grand father of RTS games.

- Comment on Are trailers revealing too much again nowadays? 6 months ago:
Yep, the T2 trailer giving away the biggest twist comes to mind. Older trailers straight up went over the key plot points.
I used to watch trailers religiously and completely stopped. Getting fully surprised by the movie itself is so great.
I read up people’s reaction to the trailers but no longer watch them. Or only after watching the movie because some trailers are amazingly well made.
It’s kind of weird at cinemas where I would close my eyes or look around and ignore the trailers.
I’m bringing back that feeling of watching a movie and knowing only what the poster looks like and remembering how fun that was. Sometimes I don’t even know the genre of the movie.
