- Comment on Why are there so many Christmas songs, yet hardly any New Year's ones? 2 days ago:
Christmas is more of an industry than a holiday, thus all the products and goods made to market it.
- Comment on Google AI summaries are ruining the livelihoods of recipe writers: ‘It’s an extinction event’ 3 days ago:
GenAI in its current state seems hard set on ruining the wealth of information we’ve collected and put on the internet.
These LLM recipes are a serious problem, they’re incredibly frustrating to encounter and getting more annoying to avoid. At this stage, if it’s not on a site I already trust, it’s more guidelines and concept than a recipe proper, since you can’t be sure a human has even tried making this thing yet.

Sometimes when you say stupid shit, people will wanna annoy you and waste your time, yeah.
- Comment on Still looking for the right community for this meme 1 week ago:
You just outlined the message you already made in the meme. It still only makes sense superficially. I don’t see any sign you considered anything deeper than the point you already decided on.
I’m not interested in “debating” you on this.
Good luck.
- Comment on Still looking for the right community for this meme 1 week ago:
Th effects of guns and the effects of vaccines on a populace are so wildly different that to compare the regulations around them similarly is comparing apples and oranges.
- Comment on Still looking for the right community for this meme 1 week ago:
I think you’re struggling because the message of the meme only makes sense superficially and really falls apart when it’s considered critically. And after one considers it critically and sees its obvious flaws, it just feels like “I’m 14 and this is deep” edgelord shit.

Yeah. Now some of those posts and comments are specifically from instances with which blahaj is defederated, but there’s also posts and comments that are visible from world accounts that can’t be seen unless I’m logged in with my world account
- Comment on Is LW falling behind in federation again? 4 weeks ago:
Yeah I’m seeing the same thing. Some posts aren’t even showing up, posts from lemmy.world accounts, too. That shouldn’t be happening, right?

- Comment on The oldest Minecraft server, MinecraftOnline, is being shut down by Microsoft 1 month ago:
I don’t agree. I think shutting down places that promote bigotry and slurs is good.
What you’re making is a slippery slope argument that doesn’t really hold water.

Ngl, whenever “libertarians” get their hackles up about needing a right to “free speech”, I always suspect they mean bigotry and slurs.

This reply actually speaks volumes. Good luck, buddy, you’re gonna need it.
- Comment on What's the key to a woman's heart and does finding love have a cutoff point? 1 month ago:
There’s no key to anyone’s heart. The less you obsess over dating and sex, the happier you will be.

When you’re sure, the AI is still probably gaslighting you.

It tastes like ass and has a texture unlike any pizza and more akin to a fried sponge?
- Comment on How do people get rid of or sell stolen jewelry? I ask cause the news says the the Louve thieves can never sell it because it so known? 1 month ago:
They either already have a buyer set up before the heist (seems unlikely, things that probably just happen in movies) or far more likely, cut it up into unrecognizable gemstones then sell it

Dunno how old you are, but we got internet when I was about ten years old and lemme tell you it’s always been there.

Imma guess, like most things it seems, they always have been, we just see it more thanks to the internet.
- Comment on New trailer for Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown has a rather bald Borg crew member 1 month ago:
This game looks interesting. After playing the demo, I think they got something really solid on their hands if they can figure out how to keep the procedurally generated events and alternative storylines interesting

I didn’t forget about them, I’ve just met many tech illiterate gen-x’ers which has informed my opinion here.

Yanno I thought about ending my post with “of course there’s exceptions for every generation”, but I thought as much would be common sense and could be assumed.
My father, born in the 50’s, is also very tech literate, but his existence doesn’t mean there’s not a trend with boomers to be technologically challenged.
