- Comment on Is it better to leave a country, or stay behind to fight for it? And what about the ethics of fleeing instead of staying behind? 4 days ago:
I think one has to decide if their country is worth fighting for or not.
- Comment on What mythologies have poor representation in media, in your opinion? 1 week ago:
Not quite on topic but I think it’s crazy that Smite features the gods of extant religions like Hinduism but doesn’t have a character that transformers between The Father, Son and Holy Ghost with unique move sets for each

Like they wouldn’t be such insufferable bastards if they had a coffee date?
In a way, I think there’s some truth there. If they learned the social skills and unlearned the brain rot that would make it easier for them to land a date, they would improve. And the date itself reinforces that behavior.

4chan has done so much damage to these poor men.
You can play HOI4 and date, it’s really not that hard, you just have to be a respectful person

It’s low key funny that the only people that think this way are such insufferable bastards that they can’t get a coffee date with anyone

- Comment on My Dog Buddy just turned 4 years old yesterday. I flew home for it. And we give him all kinds of snacks and treats all day long. Question is. Does he actually know its his B-Day or just we are..... 1 week ago:
I think there could be some debate about how intelligent dogs are, but let’s brush right past that and assume they’re about as intelligent as humans.
Do you innately know it’s your birthday? Without a calendar, would you be able to tell it’s the annual anniversary of your birth? Let’s imagine further still that a bunch of other creatures (that you trust, but with whom you cannot effectively communicate) suddenly approach you in celebration and give you food, objects and attention. Would you be able to figure out why?
I think if you think it’s important that your dog understands it’s his birthday and you’re celebrating it with him, then, sure, he does. Buuuuut I dunno how realistic an assumption that is.

- Comment on Americans, How do you pour soda into a cup with ice without the soda going flat? 1 week ago:
Tilt the glass while pouring it so the soda hits the wall of the glass at an angle, like when pouring a beer.

- Comment on Request to mod c/conservative 5 weeks ago:
I’m not so sure. I think there are conservatives who truly believe themselves to be intolerant of fascists and bigots but, first and foremost, they are not representative of conservatives as a whole and therefore may not be best suited to represent and moderate a community of conservatives, and secondly, I’m reminded of the German saying about Nazis at the table. If there is a table of ten people and a Nazi sits down with them and no one leaves, there are 11 Nazis at the table.
- Comment on Request to mod c/conservative 5 weeks ago:
I spoke about this in another thread, but it seems like a very delicate balancing act to find the right moderator for that kind of community. To be a conservative is to be tolerant of fascists and Neo-Nazis to some degree. In the current political climate, it is inevitable that any right-leaning community will have elements of these abhorrent ideologies. I don’t think fascists and Neo-Nazis should be tolerated to exist in any space. No community as a whole is made safer by their presence, quite the opposite. So any moderator of a conservative community either must not be a conservative themselves or be one of the seemingly minority of conservatives that utterly disavow nationalists and bigotry, but this would put them in a position of poorly representing the community they moderate.
It’s a tricky situation.
- Comment on It seems some higher level moderation of communities may be required 5 weeks ago:
You’re going to run into this with almost any “conservative” community. To be a conservative, you have to be somewhat tolerant of Neo-Nazis to some degree, with the current way the world is. So you either need a non-conservative moderator or you’ll have a situation where the conservative moderator will perpetually be stepping in to say “now cmon guys, we all wanna have fun but the site admins are really specific about not saying the quiet part out loud, so keep thinking it but not saying it”
