- Comment on Labour votes AGAINST letting disabled people use the bus for free before 9:30am 5 hours ago:
Yes, buses should be for the benefit of all. Unfortunately they are mostly run by private companies who want to make a profit.
(Also I see that I got downvoted for trying to provide a balanced view of why this is even a policy, aren’t the votes supposed to be “adds to the discussion” not “I agree”?)

Yes, thank you.

I think the point is, if you’re working you don’t need free bus travel. If you’re on the bus at that time of the morning then you’re probably working (or going to an important early morning appointment, who knows), and the buses are at their busiest so discouraging extra users at that time is beneficial. This might be your only form of transport if you are disabled though, so it seems unfair to force payment if you have no other option. I get why the early peak is excluded (you could argue the afternoon peak should be excluded too), although I’m at a loss as to why it finishes at 11pm.

In cities, maybe. Everywhere else - forget it. We don’t even have buses on Sundays round here.

The restrictions also mean that disabled people can’t get a bus for free after 11 pm, because
we don’t have social lives or jobs…there aren’t any buses at that time of night.FTFY.
- Comment on Paper and mobile train tickets to be replaced with GPS tracking in new travel trial 1 week ago:
Which means you can’t scan the barcode on the app either…
- Comment on Paper and mobile train tickets to be replaced with GPS tracking in new travel trial 1 week ago:
It does seem like a very over-engineered solution, with far too many points of failure.
- Comment on Paper and mobile train tickets to be replaced with GPS tracking in new travel trial 1 week ago:
Weird that it needs GPS given that the barriers that need to scan the barcode already know where you are!
I have a KeyGo card and this works great - you scan the card at the barriers and it works out and bills you at the end of the day. Doesn’t need an app or a powered up phone.

That’s to guarantee you have to try plugging the USB cable in in all four available orientations before it fits.

- Comment on Why do websites now prefer IP-based geolocation rather than the `Accept-Language` HTTP header? 2 months ago:
I’m in England and my language is set to English, yet for some reason when I was browsing AliExpress a few weeks ago it was stuck in German and I couldn’t see how to change it. Go to the homepage - German. Click on a result from a search engine - German.
I don’t know where it got that from, it wasn’t the IP either as from a computer on the same address it was fine.

I’ve not been to Bucharest airport so I don’t know how big it is or how it is laid out. However, usually you will go to check-in and baggage drop for Lufthansa - they will have an area which is labelled up, you might need to walk around a bit but the check-in areas should all be next to each other - and they will give you a boarding pass. You then need to follow the signs to the gates. That will take you through security and usually to an area with duty-free shopping. You’ll see some boards there which will tell you which gate you need (look for your destination and the flight time or number). Sometimes they don’t announce it until the last minute. You’ll then need to follow the signs to that gate, it can be a bit of a trek if it’s a big airport (allow plenty of time to get there). When you are at the gate, wait until they call you for boarding. If it’s a big plane you’ll walk down a tunnel directly onto it, otherwise you’ll be sent outside and have to climb up the steps.
Airports can be a bit daunting but they tend to be very well signposted and lots of staff around to ask if you get lost.
Enjoy your trip!
(Also don’t get used to business class - he’s been generous there, you’re very lucky)

The platform will work for all motorists, not just car users, and you’ll be able to use it both private AND council-run car parks – provided operators sign up to it.
Hmm.

For the record, that’s exactly what I used to do as a child. It’s only recently-ish that I’ve started eating them upside-down - and that’s mainly to stop getting chocolatey fingers.

Guessing it’s the sales tax? Most countries will price things with tax included, not add it on afterwards.

Wixams station has been on the cards since that was developed, and it’s only recently got the go ahead. That argument has been raging for a long time.
Universal is rather newer.
