The wound of having been told a good story? Or the wound of making Kick-Axe do the soundtrack as Spectre General?
After decades, the wound still hurts

Prime dying was harsh on my little brain

I’m a younger millennial but had a cousin born 12 years before me who shared his love of toys with me, including Transformers. He showed me the Transformers Movie in the late 90s and it rocked tiny me to my core. Had no idea that Prime, built up from watching hand-me-down VHS rips and playing for hours with the toys, could die.

They walked the dying part of it back in the final script, but see also the sucking chest wound they gave Duke in the original GI Joe movie.

“Why did you tell such a dark story in a children’s cartoon?”
“To sell a new line of toys to children.”
