The redirect will send you to a site that will install malware on your device or the site will start the Social Engineering processes.
Bottom line , at some point they will ask for money.

The vast majority of the time, not much. It will take you to a dodgy website which will make you think you need to pay something like a membership fee to access.
Sometimes they will direct you to a fake tech support page where they make you run some form of remote access tool. Which again you need to pay for so expect unexpected charges.
Drive by malware is extremely rare these days with web browser sandboxing it prevents the payloads from working.
