Some Retailers Are Refusing to Sell GTA 6 Due to the Lack of a Disc
Video Games Plus, a gaming retailer based out of Canada, and an independent gaming retailer known as Loot Box Gaming have both stated that they won’t be selling GTA 6.
Not huge retailers in the grand scheme of things, but interesting to see at least some taking a stand especially when they are almost certainly losing out on money by doing so.
This is a fight retailers lost along time ago, even if they don’t realize it. Even if it upsets some segment of the game buying population digital delivery and store fronts right on the console/PC are many orders of magnitude more convenient. And if the consumer loves one thing above cheap and flexible it is convenient.
It’s convenient for some customers, but the reason retailers like GameSpot have been able to hang on for so long is because it’s really inconvenient for other customers. People with smaller budgets rely on the second-hand market, buying and reselling one or two games at a time versus wanting to own forever.
2ND Hand? The thing I boycotted steam for so long when it released? Out of fear it will A) control the market and B) kill 2nd Hand games.
Which it did…long ago. Which games could you buy 2nd Hand?
there are no discs anymore, once agin this has been a trend for 10 years now, people dont know this, cause they dont buy physical versions.
I’d prefer if there was though. I’d be quite happy buying a game that requires 6 discs. It costs them less than a dollar for each disc, the greedy fucks.
Most sales are already digital I don’t like what they are doing but this will not affect them at all.

I’m Canadian. Never heard of VGP. Looked them up, they have one location. By not huge you really mean inconsequential. Negligible.

They do a lot of online sales as I understand it. Given there’s not a lot in the Canadian market online for physical resale, they are really only behind EB Games in that regard.

We have Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy here too. They all ship. And I don’t think it’s a stretch to say they outsell this little shop.
