  You have to admire her ability to talk so passionately about a subject she apparently knows nothing about.

  The UK has one of the highest reduction in co2 emissions in the developed world and the current government has bought forward targets and introduced an unprecedented level of direct investment to make that continue.

  In simple terms there are about 65 countries with a higher per capita co2 emissions than the UK. UK emissions have reduced by about 4% per year for several years running whereas countries like India and China are increasing in double digits.

  UK should be applauded for doing more than it’s fair share.

    Thunberg has been - like many environmentalists - calling on more rapid action. “Unprecedented” is a relative term and exists only due to the paucity of what came before. The UK isn’t doing enough. The “our fair share” mindset is a one-way, petrol-fume spewing Landrover to Hell.

    I noticed you completely ignored the reporting about the impact of the fossil fuel lobbies on the UK govt which was a major part of the piece.

  And despite that, the same UK government just today passed the 7th Carbon Budget that aims to cut emissions by 87% by 2040. They are also bringing forward the next “clean energy auction” to get more renewable investment. Plus loads of upgrades to the grid to get more renewable energy to where it’s needed.

  Granted they delayed the fuel duty increase but I feel like you can’t really blame this current government over much climate related.
